Not able to mirror Screen with my TV

2017-11-30, 7:28 AM

Ok why did they get rid of screen mirroring? I don't understand what is the point of being able to cast from an app? Odds are u have the same apps on your TV so y wouldn't I just watch the TV this is a huge issue for me I just got the z2 force from a turbo 2...it mirrored fine and that's what I use my phone most for when my internet goes out so I can still watch TV from my phone to keep the kids occupied n me sane is lenova going fix this soon with a software update?? Or do I need to return this phone and go with a different Android I've been a loyal Moto user for almost ten years now and this is the first time I've been disappointed with my phone...

You are going to need a chromecast ultra to support the high screen resolution of the Z2 Force, and the potential of attaching to a 4K monitor. They are not expensive. If all you need is 1920x1080 res, then a regular chromecast for around $30 will suffice.

There is no tv streaming casting universal industry standard, hence the need for an intermediary device like a chromecast device.

This helped me too

Connecting my MotoZ to a TV

2019-03-12, 13:51 PM

Is there some sort of setting I need to activate in order for my phone to display on to my TV? I've tried multiple times on two separate tvs using an HDMI to phone cable to watch video. I've gone to the TV menu and selected the HDMI input yet nothing works, no video or screen display of my phone.

From what I have read on here, our Moto Z phones don't support video out through USB-C to HDMI.

Thanks. From what I've been reading it certainly does look that way, that it's not going to work using an HDMI to USB C cable.

There have been quite a few posts in the Z Play, Z Force, Z2 and Z3 forums all asking the same thing, and the answer has always been No.  I don't think stock Android supports that functionality, from what I have read it's not functional on Pixel phones either.  If you have WiFi available and can pick up a Chromecast they do work fine on my Z Force, Z Play, Z2 Force and Z2 Play.

True, the Droid Turbo 2 might have had built in Miracast functionality.  But stock Android does not.  And the Droid Turbo 2 has a Micro USB connector so it doesn't support video through USB-C to HDMI since it does not have a USB-C connector.  This post was about USB-C to HDMI.
