Removing 3rd part screen protector

2019-07-17, 21:34 PM

I've had a Skinomi protector on my Moto Z2 Force screen, putting it on before I even activated the phone.  It's starting to peel a little bit at the edge; and as my Z2F's screen is still scratchless, I'll want to replace it soon.  Given the issue that some people have had with the top layer of the Z2F screen peeling off, I'm wondering if anyone has tried this with success?

Thanks in advance

Hi buyhevs-98,

Thanks for the post. I'd like to confirm when you say it's starting to peel a little bit, are you referring to the screen protector or to the phone? Is the screen protector you'd like to remove?

Best regards,
Rich

I'm referring to the Skinomi screen protector; but as you brought it up, you can see a crack coming up at a 45° angle from the microphone(?).  Al the other discoloration is due to the Skinomi starting to pull away.

Is a crack such as I mention covered under the screen warranty?  Not that I want to send it in; THIS phone is working great (no issue with the 8.0 upgrade), and I've taken care of the battery (been using the Incipio, Tumo, and Moto TurboPack extended batteries since I got the phone).  I'm just wondering if there is an issue when I pull off the Skinomi, and start seeing problems such as the plastic screen starting to pull away that others have experienced?

I thought the Z2 Force had a 4 year guarantee that the Shattershield screen would not crack or shatter?  There should be no way the Shattershioeld screen itself is cracked?  Maybe that crack is in the oter layer, known as the lens?

You just need to be very, very careful when removing the Skinomi screen protetcor so it doesn't pull up the Shattershile douter layer (the lens).  And then put a new screen protetctor right back on so the Shattershiled lens doesn't scratch.

Well, I guess it's a good thing that there's a warranty!

That's why I checked in here, AND am glad it gave me a reason to take a picture pre-removal.  I'll report back how it goes!
