Upgrade my Moto z2 force

2019-03-29, 15:26 PM

Hi everyone! Here is the issue..

I bought a Moto Z2 Force from AT&T carrier free (is network unlocked)

Apparently if you unlock the network even if it is officially made (I call AT&T and asked for the unlock code and they gave it to me) the updates stop. It's kinda stupid but it is..

So the thing is I want to change my rom to a official retail, is it any whay to do it without having to unblock the bootloader and not installing anything extra on the phone? Cheers!

You can't change your ROM without unlocking the bootloader.

I have never heard of this regarding network unlocking. My Z2F on tmo is network unlocked and it has received updates.

Yeah apparently I can't receive updates anymore, because of the unlocking.. I mean I'm on NOVEMBER security patch, and in at&t page says the official patch that I'm supposed to have is the January one.. so.. That speaks for itself too.. is there any tutorial on how to do it? ? Thanks!

We can't discuss unlocking here, but you can try the developer forums. I can ask someone why you haven't received an update if one is available, as I don't think what ATT says is true. I have never see it in many years, and I have unlocked ATT phones and received updates.

I have been told that ATT may push out updates based on SIM, so you could try putting an ATT SIM in the phone.

EDIT - I have been told that ATT is the one pushing out the updates, so it is possible that they are no longer updating unlocked, phones, but I doubt it. People unlock to travel, come home, and put ATT SIM back in - i doubt they would penalize for that.

But if you are using on a different network and have no more ties to ATT, then you could be stuck.

ATT SIM has to be activated too.

Have you tried connecting to a pc and running the Lenovo Motorola Smart Assistant software to run updates?  I'm using my at&t model on cricket and just got the January update today March 31st by using the software.
