Re: We need you for the MFN!

Tom,

If you need more Testers, let me know.  I have done several betas for ZTE, including beta tests for pre-release phones like the Blade 8 Pro and ZMax 2.  I have a good relationship over on Z-Community.  I am currently using the  XT-1789-04 from T-Mobile.  Currently on Build NCX26.7.   My IMEI is in My Stuff.  Let me know how I can help.

Thanks!

Can I give you some feedback on the X and your customer service.

1 the phone broke after 7 months i kept switching off and took 3 visits to finally get the fault repaired. 6 weeks without a phone there abouts

Then after 12 months and 2 weeks it broke again. It just swiched off. Given that it had been away for repair so long I never actually got 12 months use.

With this in mind I asked for a warranty repair.

2 customer service dithered for a few weeks and then didn't respond. I sent it off using my insurance, cost £50. It was diagnosed as unrepairable. I got £230 compensation.

I contacted customer service and told them. They then told me they had agreed to a warranty repair but hadn't bothered to tell me

Top quality service.

I'm finally back! Replaced my old Droid Turbo and totally forgot to get on here and update everything. This Z2F is a huge upgrade! Love it so far (had it for about 6 months now). Also bought the camera and projector mods.

Got the Oreo update when it was pushed. My Z2F is now running the official 8.0.0 build #ODXS27.109-34-14. Both the Hasselblad camera and the Instashare projector work fine with it as well. I did also realize you can add the serial numbers of the mods and opt those in to the MFN program too. :) So removed my old Turbo and have the new Z2F as well as both mods added and opted in. Here's hoping for some early Pie. :D

Is the MFN still operating? I haven't gotten an invite in ages! I miss testing.

I own several Moto phones including the Moto X 2013, Moto X 2014, Moto X Pure and Moto Z. I like Motorola's approach with flagship-grade phones at affordable prices (such as the Moto X line).  I recently took advantage of a Motorola USA promotion to order a new Z2 Force; making this my fifth Motorola phone.  I'll be choosing to opt-in to the feedback network - hopefully dev team will still be listening :smileyhappy:!

Re: We need you for the MFN!

Was finally able to place my order for a Z2 Force after it had sold out temporarily on Motorola.com. My intent is to replace my recently purchased Moto Z with the Z2 Force.  I found the Moto Z is nowhere near the quality of my Moto X Pure which I sincerely regret replacing due to the Z's atrocious battery capacity.

Shortly after placing my order for a new Z2 Force, I discovered that a large part of the original engineering team in the Chicago office was impacted during the Spring 2018 layoff round and that future development and software support will be transferred to Lenovo/Motorola techs out of China.  I also discovered that Lenovo/Motorola only intends to support their "high end" Z devices for one year after release - suggesting that Android 9.0 Pie will be the last major update for the Z2 series.

Can anyone confirm the actual current and future support status for the Z2 series?

No one can tell you the actual support or upgrade plan.  Because we just don't know.  But the Z2 series is already over one year old.  It is scheduled to receive Pie at some point.  Do you really expect it to receive Android OS updates after that?
