What to do if your Z2 Force has significant burn in?

2018-05-27, 13:14 PM

It seems my z2 force has developed burn in over the last month or so.  The title bar and the bottom where the three buttons are most of the time are clearly visible when playing anything full screen.

I work 50 or 60 hours a week and I don't get a ton of time on my phone and I've never experienced burnin on any of my previous devices that had AMOLED screens.   Is it because I'm using an OLED?

My wife's z2 Force is not exhibiting this issue and she uses her phone probably 2 to 3 times as much as I do.

Hi dougm0,

Sorry to know about that. There are several factors I'm thinking of having such burned screen, one of which is literally using the phone while charging. If the phone got hot and the phone's screen is on, it could damage the pixels. Another factor is the brightness of the device - Setting it high is more prone to damaging the pixels. A physical impact on the screen such as too much pressure is also one thing we need to consider. Also, on the website, Moto Z2 Force is using Super AMOLED screen. Here's the link. Try performing factory data reset but if the issue persists it may need a repair/replacement. Here's the link to FDR

Thanks for the correction of screen type.  Well....  I do have the moto charging mod so technically it's always charging when I use it.   Is it recommended to not use the mod all the time?

I only plug it in to charge at night but the batteries last all day easily. It is to be noted my wife's moto z2 force has the same charging mod without the burn in.  Just never had an amoled screen behave like this.

I've tried a factory data reset today but the burn in persists.

Hi dougm0,

Are you referring to the power pack? I wouldn't say that it is recommended not to use the mod all the time but there should still be at least moderation in use. Has there ever been a point or instance that the phone got wet? It is most probably a hardware issue since we already reset the phone to its factory settings and the issue persists. I suggest sending the phone for repair or replacement. Here's the link on how you can check your warranty repair. Click here. Thanks.

If your moto z2 force suffers Burn in- in the navigation and statusbar, you may be covered by the guarantee. I have already sent two moto Z2 force to repair. You just have to call or chat and convince them that it is a damage by manufacturing / software error-by them, and so it is. The software is not optimized to avoid Burn Ins, since it is not natively gives the option to hide the navi bar and status and apparently the quality of the screen is not very good in that area, as it suffers from Burn in very fast compared to the Samsung screens.

Screen burn is definitely a problem that these @#$+®©€¢ have to know about. My girl has the same phone bought at a later date (i.e. later production date) and she has no issues with hers. We both use our phones an equal amount of time, we both use the turbo battery mods 24/7 we both keep our screen brightness at full 24/7. I gave her her phone 13 months ago. I bought my phone in August of 2017 both phones are the Verizon versions. My phone showed screen burn within the first few months of owning it. Really it is the only complaint I have with this phone. I obviously love it to the point that I bought my girl one even though I knew about the screen burn issue on my phone.  Just wondering why mine burnt and hers didn't?

If anything, I would think that would help prevent burn-in.
