Re: WiFi Issues Z2 Force (Verizion)

Not sure where to start. Never an issue befor update and now wifi drops continuously. I have comcast internet with a cisco modem. Problem is terrible on 5 GHz and sporadic on 2.4 GHz. However its enough at 5-6 times a day. Will shift to 4g when this occurs. I have reset both phone and modem. Laptop does not falter at all on either 5 or 2,4 GHz. and the wifes phone has no problem (I-Phone 7+). We are usually connected at the 2.4 GHz. Any thoughts?

Work-around:  Reprogram your router with different SSID's & passphrases for 2.4GHz & 5GHz connections.  Then tell your phone to forget the 5GHz connection.  This should work at home, but obviously isn't reasonable for WiFi networks you can't control.  IMHO, the PHONE should allow setting the preferred band for each connection.

The only truly stupid question is the one you SHOULD have asked - but DIDN'T.

Bill, unless I'm missing something, I don't think it's possible to program the Google mesh system's individual bands. Do you know how that would be done? From the posts in this thread, it sounds like a strong majority of users with this issue are using the Google WiFi mesh system.

I don't have a Google Mesh, so I don't KNOW that it can be done.  I've programmed many different makes/models of routers & access points, and I don't recall ever seeing one that didn't have separate SSID settings for each WiFi band.  They all have about the same settings available, but they're "hidden" in different places for each brand of router.

You'll need to log into the router's admin console & look under the WiFi Settings... or maybe under Advanced Settings or some such.  It may not be an available option if you use the configuration wizard because they usually default to use the same SSID for all bands so people won't have to choose which network they want to connect to.

The only truly stupid question is the one you SHOULD have asked - but DIDN'T.

Unfortunately, Google WiFi doesn't have the option.

Well, I tried....  As I said above, the wizard probably wouldn't do it.  If there isn't any way to over-ride the automated configuration for special purposes, I guess I won't be buying one.  Father doesn't ALWAYS know best.

I can tell you my issue has not been fixed. Google Mesh system with Z2 Force. I've given up hope with Motorola/Lenovo taking the time to fix this. I wish I wasn't under contract and on a payment plan with with VZW. It's a shame too, everything else about the phone is awesome.

Can someone from support please reply to this and give us some sort of answer?

FYI. My Google WiFi issues we're fixed after update AND a factory reset. Upgrade alone didn't correct it before factory reset.
