Re: WiFi Issues Z2 Force (Verizion)

Well I can tell you it's not a Verizon issue I'm on T-Mobile with the same problem. I'd like to see if someone else that bought the phone unlocked off of Motorola's website to chime in.

Do you recall what update you did the reset on? I did a reset probably a month ago and nothing changed.

Re: WiFi Issues Z2 Force (Verizion)

I have a Z2 from T Mobile on 8.0. I have no issues with wifi anywhere I go. But I reset my phone right after I upgraded and choose to set it up as a new phone. I always do this so I have a clean slate and end up not usually having any problems.

You could try running the phone in safe mode to see if a 3rd party app is causing the issue. And then if you still have the issue a factory reset without any backup would be next.

Good luck getting someone from Motorola to help with this.

If you look back through this thread, you'll see that at one point there were actually engineers engaged in this discussion, but they disappeared.

Later, you'll see that the "front line support" style folks re-engaged with the standard support scripts of "update, reset, etc" that are no help in complex troubleshooting like this.

Engineering has apparently decided to ignore this problem.

I'm glad I paid the return fee and got rid of this phone. My OnePlus 5T is the best phone I've ever owned.

I hope someone files a class action suit against Motorola for this issue. They won't listen unless it hits them in the pocketbook.

Re: WiFi Issues Z2 Force (Verizion)

My Z2 , for about a week has been sporadically disconnecting and reconnecting to my home WiFi. I thought this was a router issue as my tablet was also doing the same thing. My tablet seems to be fine for now. I have been trying to get my phone to properly connect to my WiFi for over 2 hours. Since 7pm EST, my phone will struggle to get internet connectivity through my router. Once connected it acts like there is limited connectivity. Chrome loads pages slowly, and mobile game apps that require more than a trickle of bandwidth simply won't load. My phone is updated as of April 4. Which is about the time I noticed the disconnecting problem. Today is the connectivity issue.

There is at least one other thread on this. In doing research on the issue, I discovered that it seems to be an issues many are having. Some think it is a h/w version issue and have gotten a warranty repacement that fixes the issue.

I am having the same issue (using Google Wifi remote mesh points) and have replacement on the way.

Re: WiFi Issues Z2 Force (Verizion)

For those checking out this thread - I reached out to Google and they told me it is a known issue and as far as they know it is ONLY on the Moto Z2 Force (I know it does not affect the Z2 Play as that works in my enviroment) on Google Wifi. They don't know the root cause and are with with Motorola to see why. They have no ETA and aren't sure if it will be a Moto or a Google patch to fix.

Again this only affects child access points in the Google Wifi Mesh. The Parent is fine.

Now I need to decide if I keep my Z force (which I love, except for this issue) or change phones as I am majorly impacted by this.

From a Mod in another thread:

Hi All,

We're aware that some users are experiencing issues with Google WiFi Mesh connections. This issue is also seen across OEM's and not just Moto. We are working diligently with the Google WiFi team and our chip partners to find the root cause and get improvements as soon as possible. We may be reaching out to some of you if we need additional information or logs to help move this along.

Thanks,

-Swaraj"

Zhead, just curious, are you able to connect and stay connected to your Google WiFi "Guest" network? That's been the only work-around that I have found to work. However, my SONOS system, which I love can only operate on a 2.4 network, so I have to use another device to control SONOS as well as many other "smart" controls in my home. I originated this thread over 6 months ago. I have stuck with the phone because it's a great phone, minus one HUGE flaw. I'm really upset with the folks at Lenovo/Motorola for not being able to find a solution. Frankly, I guess they just don't care. They no longer respond to this thread or seem to have any interest at all in fixing the issue.

I've given up on there being a fix and just use guest wifi on our Google WiFi.  I have two z2 play phones that have this issue.  So don't believe it's limited to the force.

It's definitely not limited to the Z2 force. I also have a Z2 Play that has this issue. I too just use the Guest WiFi on my Google WiFi to get around the issue.
