Re: WiFi Issues Z2 Force (Verizion)

I am having constant issues with the WIFI as well.  Not only on my home google WIFI network but also my enterprise level WIFI at work.  From browsing through the Z2 Force forum it looks like this is an issue with the phone across all carriers.  Not sure if this was posted here already or not but here is an interesting tidbit of information:

For the record, I have also updated to the latest update, so the idea, "it will be fixed in the latest release," did not prove true in this case......

I've literally not had any Wi-Fi issues with my Z2F. In fact, I daresay network connectivity is definitely one of the areas this phone shines.

I'm just going to assume that you do not use a Google Wifi Mesh.

Tim, I'm pretty sure we're in the same boat here. I've recently made an interesting discovery... Do you have a "guest" network on your Google Mesh system? I have my main AP called 65 and I also have "65-guest". When these issues came up, I turned off the radio on my modem and I also turned off the guest network so I'd only have one AP live on the network. As we know, the main AP will not stay connected. So, I turned on the guest access again to see if it would connect and... miraculously, I stay connected to my guest network with decent reliability. The stupid part of this all is it's still a 5ghz network.

So, while this does allow me some connectivity at home (I live in a really bad VZW coverage area), it doesn't solve the problem. I still can't control Sonos or my other "smart" devices that are connected flawlessly to the main AP.

Curious to know if you have tried this?

Kevin

I have not messed with the Guest capability in any way.

Interestingly though, my issue doesn't seem to be with the main AP. I connect to it with no problems. My issue is with connecting to the Mesh AP's. With these, I get two types of Responses:

1. My phone will show fully connected to the mesh AP with a strong signal. But it will act like I have no internet. i.e. will not browse, update apps, email ect.

2. Connection will drop, then phone will try to reconnect. won't move past acquiring an IP address.

Turning off Mesh AP's fixes the connectivity with my phone, but obviously this in not an acceptable long turn solution.

Yep, we're on the same page. I'm referring to my main AP as the Mesh main. Connecting to my router directly is not an issue at all.

If you have a min, check out the guest setting... just for grins.

Update: At least for us and the access points we are using, having the newest firmware on both the Unifi AP and the newest software update on our Z2 Forces, my co-worker and myself have seen the problem go away completely.

That's interesting that other people are having different issues as well, like getting no connectivity. Ours would stall for less than 10 seconds it would seem, usually like 2 seconds, then you'd see the "wifi disconnected" popup. The popup wouldn't even completely fade away before it was already reconnected and the page was mid-load.
