Re: Z2 Force Android Pie

Ich bought my z2F a year ago, expecting the pie Update to be released soon. Every week that passed made me feel more disappointed about Motorola. I started with Motorola in the early 90s with the MicroTac and since this time in owned many Motorola phones. I experimented  with custom roms and i learned, that one single (unpaid)person is able to bring a stable running os upgrade to a device. I can't accept, that a company like Motorola is not willing to spent 0.001%  of the money they got from this phone for a small team to bring up an Update for a flagship device before it is outdated?

Z4F might be released before we get pie and i am not sure, If i can enjoy the update in knowledge of a much better device available.

I really would like to move away from Motorola because of their update behavior, but there ist no alternative for the shatterproof display, so it seems, that Motorola won and i will buy the next Moto, although i am actually not happy with this.

This might change, when other brands release shatterproof phones.

Cheers, Sascha

Unfortunately I don't think anyone will ever produce another shattershield screen.  If other manufacturers were going to do it, they would have by now.  And I doubt that Moto will ever make another Shattershield screen.  I hope I'm wrong, I have owned every one and think it is 100% awesome.  But....Shattershield really received a bad rep in the tech news and tech world.  People turned it into the tempest in a teapot over how easy it scratched, etc., etc.  I think it received such a bad rep that it's done forever.  I hope I am wrong, but if they planned on continuing Shattershield why was there no Z3 Force with Shattershield?  Seems like many people just couldn't wrap their head around a soft, 5-layer screen with a soft plastic outer lens....it will not crack and shatter but needs to be protected from scratches.  People want Gorilla Glass so it doesn't scratch going in & out of pockets.

Thanks to the late updates I have no other option but to move to Sony XZ3. Have given away my Z2 force to teenage brother who is using it pretty much just to watch Videos. Bye Motorola

Yea, the phone can't shatter. But thats not what the shattersheild is for.The shattershield is to harvest money by having a removable layer. Still can't shatter the screen when the shattershield comes off.

Motorola has completely forgotten the Moto Z2 Force.  If you check Motorola's website, they are selling the Z2 Force cheaper than the X4.

They won't say it, but it looks like the Z2 Force won't be updated despite Motorola saying that it's one of the models that was getting Pie.

A pity, like the phone a lot.  Put a plastic film screen protector and enjoy a thin a light android phone, with very good performance and a clean interface.  Unfortunately will have to look elsewhere for my next phone.
