Re: z2 android Pie update

2019-05-30, 21:36 PM

Hi Rich, thank you for the update. However, you will be able to find many posts in this forum expresing discontent and frustration by many Moto Z2 Force owners, that feel (myself included) that Motorola has taken too long to release the Android Pie OS for the Moto Z2 Force.  More so that it was a flagship phone when it was released.  Currently there is the Z3 and the upcoming Z4, plus the G6 and G7 all running Pie, but the Z2 Force its been completely left behind.

Hi Rich,

your post takes all my hope for an update in the near future. To make ist right at best performance is the task for every update and what we epext. For me it feels rediculous to be unable to tell us a rough timeframe. Why don't you  share the upgrade progress/problems  with us or let us help  by releasing a BETA for the impatient users? Can you tell us how many people are working fulltime on this Update? Or at least when you started working on it?

My Phone (at least the battery) nears the EOL. I am not willing to wait any longer and check your links every day.

I am very disappointed and i am not able to recommend Motorola anymore.

Our phone will be two generations behind by the time we get Pie.  https://www.cnet.com/news/moto-z4-release-date-and-specs-for-the-500-5g-ready-phone/ I will never purchase another Motorola phone.

It looks like Rich (Motorola -Lenovo Support), won't be making more contributions to the forum after our warm welcome.  The Moto Z2 Force update to Pie looks very similar to the first Moto X (which I owned and loved), that after months and months of delays were Motorola said that the update was coming, at the end they couldn't update it. The reason in that case apparently was problems with a Motorola custom designed chip.

In case of the Moto Z2 force seems to be a lack of interest by Motorola on the Z2 Force, and maybe lack of carrier support. The Moto Z2 Force doen't have any out of the ordinary hardware that could cause incompatibilities with a new OS.

I would greatly appreciate any one from Motorola chiming in, but I won't hold my breath.

Yes, its very similar situation to the original Moto X 5.1 update and i remember my first Motorola - the Atrix 2 Jelly Bean update... Unfortunately this attitude is very typical of the company, they had so many opportunities, but they were always screwed up. The mods are dead. In Europe we wont get Z4. The Z4 Force never come. The X5 in last year was not to be announced because the american service provider's didn't interested of it. etc.

It's very frustrating that after 9 month of the Pie OS announcement there is nothing. I think within 4 days we will get another security patch to fulfill the android enterprise requirements and maybe autumn there will be the Pie when the Q became officially. If there will be the situation i'll moved to Asus ZenFone 6 after 8 years and many-many Motorola devices.

There is one super secret developer working on the project, in a secret underwater laboratory deep on the bottom of Lake Michigan.  He comes up for fresh air & water once a week and checks in his new code.  ?

Just kidding obviously.  They aren't going to release those kinds of details here on the forum.
