Z2 force randomly turning off.

2018-01-30, 16:23 PM

So my phone just started randomly shutting off yesterday, and then when I go to turn it back on it says 0‰ battery, then after another try or few tries it will eventually turn on and say it's at around half charge. Seems to happen around half battery capacity or when it's trying to load something. Anyone else having this problem. I've only had the thing like 5 months and this is just one more thing on the pile of problems I'm having with it.

Hi Jtbusha

It's new. Let me help. How often would it shut down? Do you have an SD card in your phone? Is it set as internal storage?

Ella

I started having similar problem about a month ago. It happens when I am walking (briskly) or doing something like shovel snow (this morning). Mine shut down 3 times today. Some days it won't shut down.
Only thing different to me is when I power on my phone, the battery level is fine and it doesn't happen when I'm using it. Only in my pocket.
No SD card. Factory reset last week but didn't help.
Seems like the battery or battery cable isn't secured well. I could be wrong. I plan on calling Motorola/Lenovo this evening.

Hi CRomphf,

Thanks for posting in this thread. I would love to help. Can you explain if you're only experiencing this issue with a specific app? I would initially recommend testing this with safe mode so all third party app will be disabled.

To Enable Safe Mode

1. Press and hold the Power button until Power off comes up on the screen.

2. Touch and HOLD Power off on the screen until reboot to safe mode appears.

3. Touch OK when Reboot to safe mode appears

4. Phone will reboot and Safe Mode will appear in bottom left corner

5. If the issue does not remain in safe mode, this indicates a third party application installed from the Play Store is causing the problem.

6. Restart the device to get out of safe mode and uninstall any recently installed applications.

*** Begin by looking for specific application types such as launchers, task killers or anti-virus apps.

Let me know for any improvement. Thanks.

Best regards,
Rich

Hi ShadyMerchant,

Thanks for posting on this thread, and for trying the suggested troubleshooting steps. Could you please update your profile with current phone, carrier and serial number -- this will help me investigate. Please make sure that the options under Settings > Motorola Privacy are on as well, and let me know (just reply here) if it's okay for me to look at your apps to see if they are a source of problems.

Hi Bamaumau,

Thank you for updating your profile. I noticed that the Disney wdpro is crashing and it looks like it was crashing along with the phone. This might be causing an issue. Let's try uninstalling your Disney app and observe the phone within the day and let me know if that makes an improvement. Thanks.
