Re: Z2 force randomly turning off.

This random turn off issue sounds like a battery issue and repair is the only way to fix it. If you have already tried a factory reset and it still happens there isn't anything else to try. You can see Motorola's response to this in a few threads here and on the Z Droid community. Wish I had an easy fix for it but so far repair is the only fix. This is the downfall of non consumer replaceable batteries, that I personally hate. I used to be able to keep phones going for many years with a quick battery swap, now it's a major problem...

I've done what you have listed. My xt1789-01 will power off in safe mode.
The only way I've been able to combat this is to stick on my battery backup Moto mod.
Is this something that I can take to my carrier and have them exchange it?

Just started having this problem after the pie update. Never had the issue before the update. Weird coincidence to have a battery issue soon after an update.

Hi bpratt7,

Thanks for posting on this thread. Please try the suggestions provided on this thread. It is essential to do a factory data reset without restore and observe the phone for improvements. Backup your files before resetting the phone so you won't lose them.

Factory Data Reset:
Settings > System > Reset options > Factory Reset

Is there a posted fix for this issue.

My Moto z2 Force shuts down everyday, typically when not in use.  Then it's often a challenge to get the phone to restart.

I end up not being able to use or trust the alarm clock feature because it shuts off during the night and once or more during the day.

I would appreciate a fix as the reset does not correct the issue.

Thank you!

Hi Bartolo1,

Thanks for posting on this thread. I'd like to confirm, did you restore your back after resetting the phone? Make sure your phone has the latest software update too.

Good question...

I am unable to tell if I'm on the current software, because when i go into System and ask it to check for an update, it fails with an error every time after checking for a while.    My carrier is AT&T, and I can't tell what version I should be on.  Not sure if you can help with that as well.

Thank you

Hi Bartolo1,

Let me check that. Can you please update your profile with current phone, carrier and serial number -- this will help me investigate.
