moto features that are missing

2017-08-11, 14:27 PM

This is more of a commentary than a question, in hopes that a moto rep will see it and pay attention. I finally had to replace my Turbo (in my opinion one of the most underratted phones produced) as the microphone stopped working, with the new Z2 Force. Anyway, I have confirmed that these features are gone, but I used them everyday and am extremely disappointed they are gone.

First, is the "keep screen dark" feature, which allows you to select times in which the screen will not display anything (for example when you use your phone for your bedside alarm). With it gone, the screen constantly pops up the notification screen, which is crazy annoying at night. If I go and change settings every night, like turning off the notifications, it doesn't do it, but that is rediculous to do every night and turn back on every morning when there was a perfectly good and simple solution with the keep screen dark setting.

Second was the wave to silence/snooze feature. I guess this one is a little less important, but again, was still a simple and effective solution that made the phone so simple and enjoyable to use.

Hopefully someone will hear my concerns, even though I am sure I'm a small minority that uses these features.

Another missing feature is the clock widget from the Droid Turbo, I think they call it the command center. The round clock that you click the edge and it pops out with battery, weather and all that info. I am very particular about my phones and really miss that widget. Had downloaded beautiful widgets that I paid for a long time ago, and ended up deleting it because its still not the widget I want

There is a Do Not Disturb setting in settings that does exactly what you want. That's why Moto removed it. It's a standard, and quite good, setting.

Time and Weather Widget is the new version of that. They change it a little for every gen.

It's pretty close. I think it even does the "rain in 10 min" thing still.

It generally has the same features, but is simplified, and lacks the ability to customize aside from location and F vs C temp. It still links to weather and calendar like the old one. And it doesn't expand out like the old one. I actually like that it's more compact on the home screen, as I can place more shortcuts on the screen.
