phone audio: I can hear them, they can't hear me

2018-01-24, 17:00 PM

Since the latest update anytime I call my wife who has a Galaxy S7 she can't hear me since the latest update anytime I call my wife who has a Galaxy S7 she can't hear me 90% I call her. I have noticed this is a continuing issue with the software updates and Galaxy S7 it's really frustrating when I try to make a call rebooting my phone to try to get her to hear me.

Seems to be a known issue with the T-Mobile Oreo update.

Until there is a patch, the workaround is to disable VoLTE in call settings.

I am a At&T subscriber with the same phone and same issue.  My phone updated and I still have the same issue for incoming and outgoing calls.  When I tried to request a repair the Motorola website just spins saying it is looking up my warranty and never progresses, but my warranty info is updated under my device profile on the site.  Essentially I have a phone that I cannot use, that I purchased directly from Motorola, not my carrier.  I have reset my phone and updated it and the problem still exists.

There are different variants of this phone that are customized per carrier - the issue most are discussing is for Tmobile, and turning off VoLTE solved the problem.

Do you have the Tmobile or ATT variant of the phone? If Tmobile variant on ATT, then you may have to disable VoLTE permanently.

If this is an ATT Model phone, then your problem may be different. Have you tested with VoLTE disabled? Have you tested in safe mode? Have you tried a reset? If none of the above work, then service is the next step - we haven't seen this reported by other ATT users wth an ATT Model phone.

If the website is not working, can you use the phone number or chat function to contact motorola?

I don't think I have a Tmobile or At&t varriant because I noibou the phone myself from the Motorola site in September 2017.   I am on the At&t network; they are my service provider.

I can't call the number because no one can hear me, but I can hear them.  I have only started having this problem in the last month or so.

This is the Z2 Force forum - it is only sold in the USA as carrier branded, so maybe you have a Moto Z and not a Z2 Force?

I would test as above: disable VoLTE and test, try safe mode and test, reset and test - that rules out hardware or not.

Settings-about phone will have model and software information

I have a Z² Force; I am in the correct form. I live in the U.S.  I didn't buy my phone from the At&T carrier.  I got it on the Motorola site and don't remember having to specify my carrier when ordered; there was just a list of compatible carriers on the phone details & my carrier ( At&t) was one of the, so I bought it.

How do I disable VoLTE?

Right, so you picked the ATT variant - or you should have. The Z2 purchase page requires you to pick a variant in the drop down at time of purchase. What does it say under settings?

To disable VoLte, open your phone dialer, tap the 3 dots top right. calls - see if you have Volte or advanced calling as an option to turn off. That is the issue that Tmobile phones had with the Oreo update.

If your phone has oreo - you can verify the carrier and software under settings-system-about phone; If not oreo - settings-about phone

It says At&t software variant.  And based off of your instructions t does not have Oreo.
