usb headphone adapter issues after oreo 8 on tmobile

2018-01-28, 19:20 PM

I don't know if anyone else is having this issue, but i have had major issues with the usb headphone adapter not being recognized after the update. If i restart the phone with the adapter plugged in it works, as long as i don't disconnect it. otherwise it won't recognize it being plugged in. Also my third party usb charge/power + headphone adapter doesn't work at all now!!! very frustrating.

What was the name of the third party usb charge?

Re: usb headphone adapter issues after oreo 8 on tmobile

I use my phone almost daily for the last 3 months for listening to audio through the USB port. It sits on my desk at work. The cable adapter remains there as well. That is to say that the USB headphone adapter isn't being crunched up or tossed around or damaged at the end of each day. It's used up to 5 days a week resting on a desk surfaces and is undisturbed at the end of a day.

Immediately following the day that I updated to Oreo I had problems with the USB port recognizing the headphone charging cable adapter.

This is the adapter I'm using: Amazon - 2PCS 2 in 1 USB C Type C to 3.5mm Audio Jack Headphone Adapter Charger Charging Cable for Motorola Moto Z Droid, Motorola Moto Z2, BlackBerry KEYone Silver

So, let's review.... It's working great daily. Update to Oreo. It's failing.

There's some odd combination of plugging in the audio cable to my desk speakers and disconnecting USB charger, and disconnecting the headphone plug that I'm working out. But it'll detect the USB audio cable after a few minutes of monkeying around with the adapter and plugs.

I have confidence that this Oreo update had changed the recognition of a USB audio adapter. I'd like to be notified if a fix becomes available.

(Edit: Fixed Swype spelling mistakes, added link to adapter being used)

It seems to me that my best solution is to connect my USB headphone adapter by itself to the phone. Start my music. Then plug in the headphone cable to the USB adapter. Finally, plug in the charging cable (optional).

Following these steps in this order has helped.

I still find it odd, however, that the phone previously had no issues with the same adapter and cables prior to the Oreo update and now it does.

Hi kirotawa,

Thanks for posting. May I know what steps you've taken so far to address this? I would be glad to help.

Sure,

I changed the cable to another one and the issue still persists. It just stop to work sundelly.
Research around web I saw a lot of posts about the last android update to orea may probably cause that issue. It's quite annoying not be able the use the cellphone to hear music.

Hi kirotawa,

Thanks for trying, I understand that. Have you tried testing another earphone to see if it will work? Also, please test it on safe mode so we can isolate the third party apps.

To Enable Safe Mode

1. Press and hold the Power button until Power off comes up on the screen.

2. Touch and HOLD Power off on the screen until reboot to safe mode appears.

3. Touch OK when Reboot to safe mode appears

4. Phone will reboot and Safe Mode will appear in bottom left corner

5. If the issue does not remain in safe mode, this indicates a third party application installed from the Play Store is causing the problem.

6. Restart the device to get out of safe mode and uninstall any recently installed applications.

*** Begin by looking for specific application types such as launchers, task killers or anti-virus apps.

Best regards,

I have tried this process (safe mode) and can confirm that Oreo still has this issue.

(Unable to use type C splitter for aux out and charging).

Please fix this!
