Here's the signal strengths.

Very strange -- what are those gaps? Are you able to correlate those white spaces with any activity? We don't see you turning the phone off, or see it in airplane mode in a way that lines up. Are you going into a shielded area with no signal? That might explain it.

We are seeing that your CPU is running pretty much all the time. Something is causing the phone to work overtime. Can you try an extended period of time in Safe Mode? I know it's kind of a pain, but it does help determine if the issue is due to a 3rd party app. To go into Safe Mode, press the physical power key, then press and hold the pop-up "Power off" key until the Safe Mode instructions pop up.

Matt,

This seems to be a known issue affecting the Moto z2 play. I'm suffering from the same problems and so is a college at work that has the same phone. Cell phone standby is the highest usage under the battery stat by far. On a full charge, it consumes more than 50% of the battery stat. A software update is needed to correct the issue.

Please update your profile with current phone, carrier and serial number -- this will help me investigate. Please make sure that the options under Settings > Motorola Privacy are on as well, and let me know (just reply here) if it's okay for me to look at your apps to see if they are a source of problems.

Re: Extreme battery drain Z2 Play

So I did the hard reset and things have actually gotten better. I haven't been needing the mod battery at all. Now after 15-16 hours my phone battery is pretty much gone (down to 10% or less), but I don't think that's terrible.

The processor usage could be my Fitbit which syncs often. Perhaps I will try clearing my app list more often to actually close out things rather than backgrounding them.

I am not nearly as annoyed as I was, though.

I have the same issue, I'm already on my second Moto Z2P since the vendor had no clue on how to fix it

I had on issues until I had to use my Incipio battery MOD last Sunday.

Since then, the battery level is dropping right away after disonnecting it.

I'm only using the Motorola turbo charger

I alreayd tried the calibration

What is Motorola doing to fix this?

I was having some rapid battery drop issues with and without the power pack mods attached. Worse when I used my fast wireless charger but the battery dropped quickly as soon as charging was stopped. I did the calibration reset which helped a little. Then I decided to try a trick I used to do with my older LG phone; turn the phone off with the turbo charge connected. let it sit 5 to 10 minutes off and charging. Reboot the phone. When it is fully functional disconnect the charger. Following this regimen I am getting 6-7 hours before the internal battery drops to 80%  I must tell you I am a very light user but I read all my news with my 3 morning cups of coffee. May make 1 or 2 calls and some light texting during those 6 hours. If I grab the phone off the the charger without doing this I drop to 90% in the 1st hour!

(I have had this phone since December and only started seeing this issue after the recent moto mod power pack update)

good luck & God Bless,

Vince

Z2 Play Discharging Quickly

2018-02-09, 13:45 PM

This problem would happen less often, but now it's literally every time. I charge the phone, and it happens really really quick, I don't know if that's the turbo charge or some "symptom". I unplug, turn on battery save mode, GPS and Bluetooth are always off. With literally no use, screen off, it went from 100% to ~85% in 7 minutes. I noticed that after that, the battery discharge starts to slow down to what I'd normally expect. But at that point, I've already got only ~65% of what should be ~90%. I tried adding the IMEI of my phone to my account, but it shows me a "server" error when I click "Yes". I live and bought the phone in Brazil.

There's also cases where the battery doesn't charge at all, like 1% every half an hour, without use. All of what I said in this post is using the charger that comes in the box. I'm adding a couple of screenshots.

Hi,

Have you tried calibrating the battery to see if it helps?
