Phone stuck automatically boots to fastboot

2020-04-13, 6:37 AM

My Moto Z2 play device crashed at startup, unable to restore using recovery mode, detail: I did not activate the developer option before the problem happened so (oem locked) does not unlock.

This is the bootloader error:

Start up failed.

Your device didn't start up successfully. Use the Software Repair Assistant on computer to restart your device.

Connect your device to your computer to get the Software Repair Assistant.

Below, the following messages appear:

AP fastboot flash mode (secure)

Failed to verify hab image boot

failed to validate boot image

ERROR: Failed to pass validation, backup to fastboot.

boot up failed.

As it is lockdown here and all Service centers are closed and its my primary phone so  I tried flashing fastboot rom but no luck there too, Any help will be appreciated.

I already did the oem unlocking procedure on the Motorola website I got the code, but it doesn't unlock because the developer option is not activated, I think.

fastboot oem unlock (XXXXXXXXXXXXX)

(bootloader) Check 'Allow OEM Unlock' in Android Settings> Developer

Hi DexterO07,

Thanks for posting. You may need to use LMSA tool and perform the Rescue function.

Here are the links on how to use the tool

https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds101291

https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht102605

Please let me know if that helps. Thanks.

Best regards,
Rich

Hi,

I have exactly the same issue as described above, on my Moto Z2 Play. When using LMSA Rescue, the last two commands in the log are:

download:0000b600

flash:partition

And then it fails. But I guess this is expected, as no attempt was ever made to unlock developer options and enable USB debug, and now I cannot enter GUI to do this. Any suggestions?

Hi DexterO07, Chetansha, AyanGR

Can we try using the LMSA again and see if you can do the Rescue function? Please let me know. Thanks.

Same here. I attach some screenshots where you can see it reaches 38%, then throws a failure and when you clear this it shows it failed at 62%.

Hi,

Thanks for reporting back. Can you please update your profile with the current phone, carrier and serial number -- this will help me investigate. Please make sure that the options under Settings > System > Motorola Privacy are on as well, and let me know (just reply here) if it's okay for me to look at your software details to see if they are a source of problems.

See here for the instruction.

Best regards,
