Moto Display does not show missed calls

2019-04-14, 10:59 AM

Hello, everyone!

I recently noticed that Moto Display on my Z2 play does not show missed calls notifications. All other notifications (sms, e-malis) are displayed as they are supposed to though

The pattern is like this: The phone's display is off with Moto Display enabled -> I have an incoming call -> display goes to call screen -> the call is not answered -> display goes to lockscreen -> display is off again

I can see the missed call in the lockscreen and in notification shade, but Moto Display does not show it somehow.

I tried reboot, factory settings reset, safe mode. It does not help.

I guess this is Moto Display bug then?

Many forums, like this one, slow down on weekends.  Folks spend time with family & friends or outside this time of year.

Have you tried just rebooting your phone?  What about the Moto App > Display > Peek Display > More Settings?  Is anything blocked?  What about the Phone app itself, are Notifications turned On for phone calls?

Maybe I am a little confused by what you are describing.  What do you mean when you say that you can see the notification on the lock screen but not on Moto Display?

I just called my cell from my desk phone at work and then hung up (to generate a missed call on my cell).  The missed call notification displayed for a few seconds, then the screen went to sleep again.  If I waived my hand over my screen to initiate Peek Display (or what we used to call Moto display) the missed call Notification was visible, when I started to swipe up to unlock my screen, the missed call Notification was there and then when unlocked the missed call Notification was in the Notification area.

Which step of the way are you not seeing the missed call?

lock screen is what you see when you press turn on/off button while the phone is asleep.

When you do that you can see standard android notification shade and that's where I can see my missed calls.

But peek display does not show them for some reason. I hope now its more clea

I just noticed on my phone that the missed call symbol only appears on the Moto Display / Peek Display until I hit the power button or start to unlock my phone.  Once the screen goes back to sleep the missed call symbol no longer appears on the Moto Display / Peek Display screen.  I assume that's just the way it works, those missed call notifications don't stay on the Peek Display screen once the lock screen has been viewed.  The missed call notification still stays on the lock screen and in the Notification tray, just not on the Peek Display anymore.  Must be the way it was designed?

Maybe so, but the thing is if you don't answer a call, the phone goes to lockscreen for a short time automatically before getting back to sleep.

And therefore it wont show up on Moto Display.

Hi DPV,

Thanks for posting, let me try to help. Please confirm if we are doing this right?

  • Make sure the Moto Display is enabled, click on more info > make sure 'Level of details to show' is 'show all notification'
  • Long press on Phone app > App info > App notification > Make sure it's enabled,
  • Make sure the screen is locked and it needs password/pin/pattern to unlock,
  • Call your device, once it missed the call.
  • Let the device go back to lock screen,
  • Do not press the power button, just approach the phone or move it around.
  • Once the phone is approached or if the fingerprint button is touched by any alternate finger it should show the notification fades,

Let us know if this works for you?

Regards,

Swaraj
