Re: Gamepad mod Battery issue

It seems to be roughly the same. I don't think the gamepad is pulling much power, but if it's supposed to last 8 hours on internal battery but still at 100% after more than an hour it's pretty obvious that something isn't working right. For reference, I'm primarily running emulators like ePSXE and SNES9x.

If you disable the red LEDs the mod battery doesn't drain at all. So Its really hard for me to believe the battery is intended for the mod itself.

Crappy marketing if that is indeed true though. Its a pretty big selling point.

Any update on this? I'm waiting on a call from Motorola, was told that my issue could not be handled over email and I would get a call. That was over the weekend, haven't heard anything yet. Can confirm that with the LED lights disabled the gamepad will stay at 100% indefinitely, it is ONLY using the phone battery, so the onboard battery is currently worthless.

Re: Gamepad mod Battery issue

After weeks of waiting and runaround I finally spoke to someone with Motorola's "2nd level support" team yesterday. According to him the gamepad is functioning correctly. He admitted that the internal battery is basically worthless as it only powers button inputs and the LED lights. According to the research he did and the units he tested none of them went below 98% battery power with extensive use because the gamepad is not designed to actually use its battery to supplement the phone battery.

He agreed that the advertising is very misleading but stated that it is possible that software updates could change how the gamepad uses its battery. But for right now it is what it is.

Very disappointing and another example of Motorola dropping the ball on a product, overpromising and underdelivering.

That is severely disappointing since it seems a simple software update could have the gamepad charge the phone and give us the option to turn off the LEDs....just sayin'

Hi,

Same issue, I had my mod replaced, nothing has changed. Mod's battery stuck at 98~100% after hours of use.

I have a moto z play

Same probleme here....I dont even mind, if the mod battery does not charge the phone but its very annoying that it drains battery from it.

Like this, its even a disadvantage to not having a battery at all in it.

I don't get who ever programmed the mod like this....its simply stupid!!

I've had mine about two weeks, never charged it and it always says 100 percent. I use it every other day or so for about an hour each time.
