Re: Gamepad mod Battery issue

IMO everything "mods" is now done and no more work or effort will be put forward. We got the pathetic phones for the final third year of the promised mod compatibility and now they are done and moving on.

I'm not holding my breath for them to fix anything.

From accubattery, the charge rate using the same fast charger

Direct on phone: 89%\hour

Through gamepad: 14%\hour

You can't plug in to keep playing when the battery is low because the charge rate is way to slow. Also the onboard gamepad battery can not discharge and is useless as we all know hehe.

Hi Aaaaaaa7,

Thanks for your observation. I personally won't based this with a third-party battery checker, but I tested it with my colleague and it looks like the gamepad was a bit slow charging when it's plugged into the gamepad while connected to the phone. Thanks for your feedback though, I will pass this along to the Product Teams.

I have the same issue as in the OP, like the mod doesn't charge the phone, but it seems to me that I shouldn't expect it to be resolved, as it is not resolved for a year now. Too bad.

Re: Gamepad mod Battery issue

2018-12-08, 21:45 PM

Basically, the gamepad mod is advertised to provide extra battery to the phone, which would make total sense since playing games drains the battery much faster than normal use. The mod itself contains a battery, even the phone is able to obtain the gamepad's battery charge % from it .. The problem is, unlike the speaker mods or the battery mods, this one doesn't charge the phone.

Before getting back to me and saying that the battery's only purpose is to power up the mod and internal LEDS (as some Motorola repredengegiced had already done), that is completely WRONG. I have tried letting the mod drain slowly after months of no use (basically the phone stating it has 0% charge) and the gamepad works just fine for playing games; even de internal LEDs turn on without a problem, confirming that the gamepad is powered by the phone itself

Please provide us an status and support. This should have been resolved since launch.

Re: Gamepad mod Battery issue

The customer service for this product has been so lousy it really makes me wonder. I had a problem with the D-pad not working which made me have to replace the mod, but this battery is a whole other beast. The mod uses more power from my phone than it should and drains it insanely fast and restarts my phone all time and the mod always shows 100% charge no matter what. I've done all the toubleshooting, resets updates, everything, but Motorola/Lenovo refuse to actually believe this is a problem! Please own up to this issue and give us software updates or something! This is a product we all want to like and you're making us believe your company is too inept to handle a simple controller, we could all have bought a cheaper controller that can do more but we supposed you, the least you can do is support us.

Hi Artor,

I appreciate the steps you've tried. We need to isolate which one we need to address here, have you tried testing another mod just to see if it will act the same? Let me know. Thanks.
