Have you tried going into Settings, Application, select Moto App Launcher and tap on Force Quit? It works for me and it's faster than rebooting.

Google feed is not appearing on swiping homescreen towards left!

2018-04-30, 11:53 AM

Hi! I've been having a issue with swipe left for Google feed, whenever I swipe left it does not let me go to Google feed. Tried restarting and clearing cache, it got fixed once, but again after few weeks the problem returned. Anybody else having this issue?

I did the following. Did a force stop on the app moto app launcher. Google feed is available. If my screen is locked to portrait it appears to continue worling. If I allow the screen to be able to rotate but keep the phone in portrait all is good. Once I change to landscape the problem reappears. I am on a z2 play 7.1.1.

My many apologies,

1. I wanted to post this on 'Z2 play' area and I didn't realize till I posted that I mistakenly posted it on a 'Z force' area

2. I got the Oreo on my Z2 play yesterday which resolved this isseus

3. My sincerest apologies.

That's actually a good thing that you did post here.  With this affecting many Moto phone models it's good to consolidate the information into as few threads as possible so we can all see it.  And, it's good to hear that Oreo resolved the issue for you on your Z2; since we are expected to receive Oreo sometime soon.  Thanks for sharing. :robothappy:

With oreo we got a newer version on the Moto launcher with many new features, disabling the dark theme being my favorite. So I hope that the Oreo update will solve the problems for you guys. Cheers :)

Hi Everyone,

Please keep checking on the Google updates. We're still thinking that this has something to do with Google since there are other phones from different brands having this issue. Let's all wait and see for the next updates. Thanks!

Thanks for the upate Rich.  I initially thought this was related to a bug in the Google app, now I'm not so sure.  With several different Google app versions now I can reproduce the issue by using my JBL Soundboost Mod.  While using that Mod the screen goes into landscape mode and eventually the screen will lock.  After using my Soundboost, the left swipe for Google stops working.  Maybe it's a combination of the Google app and specific Launchers (like Launcher3) not playing nice together?

Happy to confirm that force stop brings back the swipe. I am also very confident it is caused by screen rotation.

Hi sajokaz,

I'm still trying to dig into it until now, I keep checking on an update from Google. I tried uninstalling updates from Google App and reinstalling it, so far not so good. Apparently, Google Feed works for me when I use the Google Launcher. There's nothing much difference as far as system UI concern, so I guess Google Launcher and Launcher 3 combined perfectly.
