Re: Left swipe to Google not working

I have a Google App beta version.  I wonder if they are working on this issue?

I just downloaded the beta version, and it worked right after install.  I will keep everyone posted tomorrow after testing it throughout a full day.

I have the same version as most everyone else, and I found that, after clearing all data, the swipe left did bring up the Google app (albeit with no data displayed). However, after rebooting the device, it stopped working altogether again. I also don't see any correlation to other settings mentioned here, e.g. launcher screen rotation.

Still happening to me every single time. I have to Force Stop Google to make it work, but then after a couple of times it reverts right back to not allowing to swipe from the home screen again.

Moto Z2 Play, Google version 7.24.32.21.arm.

One thing we haven't checked is Safe Mode, to rule out some app interference. To go into Safe Mode, press the physical power key, then press and hold the pop-up "Power off" key until the Safe Mode instructions pop up.

I think the fact that the Beta version (referenced above) works fine would suggest Google is working on this. A quick search turned up the same complaint on other phones (like here).

This might help narrow down the issue. I tried using the Rootless Pixel Launcher and the swipe left worked fine.

Now I just tried to swipe left and it didn't work. I had to deactivate and reactivate it in my settings. So maybe it's not directly related to Moto's launcher.

I tried the safe mode suggestion, and that didn't work either. However, when I exited safe mode without restarting the phone, suddenly it works. For me, it was nearly always non-functional during the past week, so this means something. Or does it?

Did this and it worked as long as I was in safe mode, then after I switched back out of safe mode it continued to work for a bit too. Eventually it did revert back to not working again.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks everyone for keeping us posted. Kindly update Google App on Playstore. Once it is updated kindly open Google App > Tap the 3 Horizontal lines (lower right part) > Settings > Enable Your Feed and Notification. Let us know how it goes. Thanks
