Moto Z Force Fire Alarm

2017-02-15, 19:39 PM

Hey guys, I know this is very vague... But over the course of the past 3 days now my phone will randomly start beeping very loudly from the front speaker. It sounds oddly like a fire alarm and usually happens while the screen is off and with no apps running. Any ideas what it may be?

Hi JoeR1,

This is unusual. Do you remember what you did with the phone before you noticed this issue? Did you update your software, downloaded a third-party app or changed some settings to it?

Would you please update your profile with the IMEI number of your phone? Is it okay if we look into your apps? This will help us investigate. Make sure that your Motorola Privacy is enabled.

I haven't downloaded any new apps (although my apps are set to auto update), update my software or change settings since or for about a week before this started happening 3 days ago.

Information has been updated regarding my IMEI and Moto Privacy should be enabled, if not, I'll do it now.

It happens extremely randomly and doesn't seem to be due to any specific app...

I too am having this issue. For the past couple of days my phone has been making a piercing fire alarm-like sound and the whole time me and my co-workers actually thought something was wrong with the fire alarm lol

Seriously though, is there any way to fix this? It doesn't look like there's anything in the notification bar causing it.

Check your emergency alert settings. Should be in wireless and network, them More. Emergency alert, it should show past alerts like "Amber Alert" which I get a few times a year. Then 3 dots on top right. See if it's turned on. Hopefully it helps explain what it is. I know it's extremely loud when it goes off. Like an emergency alert on a TV from years ago when they test the system.

It's not an amber alert or emergency alert as I turned them all off. I think the app that is causing it is Photobucket for some reason.

I have Photobucket too. Is there anything in particular that makes you think that might be the cause?

I also shut off all emergency notifications such as amber alert but it's still going off. I installed a temperature monitor to check if there was anything that might correspond. So far nothing. It's just random, not any particular time (roughly 15-5 minutes apart) for about a minute. I can control the volume for now under media volume (surprised it wasn't notifications or alarms).

The second to last time it happened, as I was clearing apps one by one, it suddenly stopped once I cleared Photobucket from the recent apps screen.

It happened again last night about 20 to 30 minutes after closing out of the Photobucket app. I opened recents and immediately swiped away Photobucket and the noise stopped immediately.
