Re: Moto Z Force Not Charging

You can charge this phone on a portable charger with a USB-C output Port and USB-C connection to your phone. So, both ends of the cable have to be usb-c. I used a thunderbolt 3.1 usb-c cable and it charged my phone like the Moto charger you got with the phone..

How do you get in touch with someone regarding this charging issue? I'm having the same problem and it won't even let me use a spare charger. This is not fun? I need a new phone asap

Try turning the plug around and see if it charges

Re: Moto Z Force Not Charging

In June '17,  I plugged my Moto Droid Force into an outlet to charge and just as I started to walk away I turned back to grab a file off of the table. That's when I saw the smoke coming from the USB connected to my phone! When I picked up the phone to pull the plug it was very hot. I have the extended warranty (Verizon), so they sent me a new one. I plugged in the old one just long enough to be sure the cloud had all of my data/photos and sent it back. I had to turn in my Samusung 7, which was a great phone with no issues, for this thing. Now I never charge it without it sitting right in front of me, and I never ever charge it at night while I'm asleep!

I'm having the same issue. I tried 4 different chargers, I did a factory reset and gently cleaned the charging port via Verizon's recommendations. Currently the only way it will charge is if I restart the phone then carefully plug it in. It's definitely a pain and its out of warranty so I'm SOL. I've read enough posts of many other people to now feel very sure that this is a common problem. I'm not happy and I will not be purchasing another Motorola in the future.

Same issue, this phone isn't even a year old and I have been taking very good care of the phone and the charger. At first it would charge when I moved the cord around and now nothing. This has never happend to me before, beyond upset as I don't have the money to fix it however it seems like a comon issue, will not be purchasing any new moto products any longer.

I've asked this before but no one answered. Have you tried flipping the plug over when inserting it into the phone? Also has anyone tried another charger? I have an issue with mine that will only charge if it's inserted with the writing on the plug facing up. I also had my charger die on me soon after. My new charger still needs to connect with the writing facing up when inserted. The other way does not allow turbo charging. Let me know.

Your phone has a one year warranty, so as long you didn't abuse it, any defect should be covered under warranty. Verizon or Motorola can assist if you contact them.
