Re: Moto Z Force scratched screens

2017-08-25, 15:45 PM

I've had my Moto Z Force for 13 months now. I actually ordered a top layer preemptively months ago because I had gotten a couple scratches and it looked like it was hard to get the replacements.

I still haven't put it on....

I've been very pleasantly surprised by how well the screen (and phone generally) has held up. I definitely have lots of tiny scratches but in practice they have no impact on usability, and they don't annoy me, so I just haven't bothered to replace the top layer. Unless I get a really bad gouge or something I probably won't ever do it.

Still haven't gotten any usable assistance on this.  Any word on if I will be able to get a replacement, it was supposed to be easy.  Or am I going to have to pay a premium and not have my phone while I have a shop fix it.  Or replace it?

Somehow Motorola needs to let us know when the replacement outer layer part is back in stock.  Let us order and have it shipped and billed when it's available.  And it does need to become available. It's not nice to leave us all hanging.

Re: Moto Z Force scratched screens

Hello, I purchased this phone on September 4th 2017.  Today is September 6th. And unbelievably there are two very noticeable scratches on the screen. What annoys me is I simply place the phone in my pocket only to find the scratchers when I removed it. This is not good at all. It's a hassle for me to take this phone back to the retail store. In fact I'll be taking back the phone a second time for a different issue if I do so. The first time, when I restarted the phone I got an error with a Android icon laying down with a triangle and exclamation in the center. The phone could not reboot. The retailer had to replace the phone. I am hoping the same issue will not happen again if I'm asked to restart the phone.  I am beginning to wonder if changing my Samsung to Motorola was a good decision. I have been with Samsung for as long as I can remember. Now I'm being asked to pay $30 for a replacement lens. Plus spending time having to post on this forum in the first place.  This is outrageous. Please help me to understand what I need to do in order to replace this lens at no cost to me. Keep in mind I still have about 2 weeks to return the phone all together and possibly replace with a different brand. I am hoping it does not come to this decision, since I purchased two of these phones for myself and my wife. I fully understand the screen is shatterproof and not scratch proof however it's hard to believe just putting the phone in my pocket will cause these scratches. One would expect plastic to be harder than this. Thank you for your time.

I am in the same boat you are. I've had the phone about 1 year. I accepted the fact that the protector lens scratches. However now it is de-laminating and for the last two months, Motorola is out of stock. I cannot be without my phone as it is used for work. This is ridiculous. Has anyone found a suitable aftermarket alternative?

This is my 2nd replacement Z Force. The first 2 seem to have a thicker shield and the one I have now seems to have nothing and has many scratches. I need to know how to get a replacement screen and does some of these phones come without the shield.
