Motorola Z Force - where's the LED?

2016-10-11, 19:11 PM

Just got the Motoroal Z Force and I like everything about it but where is the LED notification light.  I came over from Samsung Note 7 after trading in the original one then the replacement (wow what a mess) and I loved the LED notification light.  Does anyone know of a stock tweak or 3rd party app I can download to get the LED notification light.  I mainly want it just for SMS.

Thanks

That's what Moto Display is all about.  Moto phones don't have notification lights.  Instead, a notification will flash on your screen, and, if you like, sound a tone.

There is no tweak to make any LED on the phone work as you suggest.

ok I see and I do like the notifications on the screen and the quick preview.  I use had an iphone for the longest time and it didn't flash a led notification either and then I got the samsung and started liking it.  It's not a deal breaker by any means for me and I'm liking the motorola Z force so far.  I downloaded and paid for the prime NOVA launcher so it's helping me get the icons like I like them and do some better customizing.

thanks

Prof Reminder can fire the flash when you get a sms, it can do it once or repeatedly, i think front or back flash... Can also Repeat a sound...

downloaded prof remider and got the flash to fire but wow its bright, I can't get the led portion to work in the app.  Any ideas of how to just get a subtle led blink instead of a flashlight brightness

Thanks for the info

You will need root and it's an open question whether this phone is ever rooted or not.

Got your attention though.  :-)

There is no led for the app to blink, since the app is made to also work with phones that have the led capability...

I just upgraded from a moto G2 (which has a notification led). It's shocking to find that the moto z hasn't one! The led is very useful, as you know that a notification is waiting to be seen. Maybe you weren't next to your phone when the notification arrived!

The worst of it, is that the led is there next to the front camera!! The same place it was on the moto g2. Why not use it? I want the option to activate it for notifications!!

I know this probably will not make you like the phone any better, but most Moto phones have not had an LED Notification since 2013.  When the Moto X and Droid Ultra were introduced in 2013 that was when Moto Display / Active Display was introduced.  For many of us, we have really liked Moto Display and don't miss a blinking LED.  I just wave my hand over the phone and see if there are any Notifications for me.

I'd like to add this as well. I own Samsung phones and LG as well. At least for the last few years, none of them have had any notification lights.

Most have what is described above.

My phone will show notifications 9n my home screen
