No Audio Through Incipio Car Dock

2018-04-18, 18:58 PM

I have two different Incipio Car Dock mods for my Moto Z Force. Within the last week or two, they stopped playing audio through the aux jack on the back. I tried restarting my phone, the mod, and even reinstalling the Moto Mod manager, it still won't play audio. I tried it with a plain old Moto Z and the audio works fine, so clearly the problem is with my phone. Also, audio play fine through the provide USB-C to 3.5mm. Has anyone else had this problem with this mod, or any others? Is it worth trying to factory reset the phone to see if it fixes this problem?

I only use bluetooth with the Incipio Car Dock but are you sure the volume is up. Changing to different outputs may change the volume level. I'll see if I can test it tonight.

Hi lcgrz,

This is interesting. Can you check if there's an update with your Mod? Kindly attach your mod then go to Settings > Moto Mods > Software Update. Please let me know how it goes, thanks.

Best regards,

Yes, I have tried adjusting the volume on the phone and my car stereo, nothing.

Also, I checked for updates to the mod, there weren't any.

I just tested and it worked fine. In fact, while I had the Aux cable connected I couldn't play audio via bluetooth through the car. Switching the car to the Aux input it played perfectly with no messing around. I'm not sure why it's not working for you.

I'm using the Incipio Car Dock Moto Mod with a Moto Z Force Droid connected to an after market but cheap Sony head unit.

My Moto Z Force is running Android 7.1.1 and firmware Build number:
NCLS26.118-23-13-6-5
Moto Mods Platform: 2.0

Did you try a reboot recently?

Hi lcgrzy,

This is more likely an issue with the phone. Can you please check if the mod connectors are clean and the pins are not loosed or damaged.

All the pins/contacts are in good shape, clean, and not loose.

Hi lcgrzy,

I would suggest we perform full factory data reset without automatic restore. Here's the link, please read and follow the instruction to reset the device. Please let me know if the issue persists. Thanks.

Also, please update your profile with current phone, carrier and serial number -- this will help me investigate. Please make sure that the options under Settings > Motorola Privacy are on as well, and let me know (just reply here) if it's okay for me to look at your apps to see if they are a source of problems.

Need help updating your profile? See here.

Best regards,
Rich

Re: No Audio Through Incipio Car Dock

I have a very annoying problem with mine where skipping forward or backward with Aux audio (it doesn't seem to matter which audio app I'm using) causes the sound to drop out. If I pause playback and give it at least 10 seconds, it will work fine again. But every time I skip, the audio completely drops out. Could this be related? I don't have Bluetooth music in my vehicle (*removed* base model...)

I also don't get very many audio instructions with Google Maps (particularly while another app is playing) when I'm using my dock. Something is not working right with the audio stream switching and the dock.
