No love.  Still have the quiet notifications and escalating ringtone.

Thanks for the info. Looks like I'll be sticking with Android 6.0 July Security update. Hearing notifications at normal volume trumps anything Android 7.0 has to offer.

That's really disappointing to hear.   Frankly I'd be fine if someone would just chime in and say that it will be fixed in a future update.   It's clearly a bug and their failure to acknowledge it is unbelievable.

Just curious, do other phones that run stock Android have a similar issue?

Hello all,

Well… I updated… I know, I know… you didn’t think I was going to leave my May Security Patch. But I did.

Last night I decided to start updating my phone. I wiped it first. I decided a fresh start was the way to go. Then I started downloading the updates. I got to the August update and phone said it was then up to date. I thought there was another after that, guess I was wrong. Added the usual apps back on and waited for the big day.

At Noon today it flashed on my screen that Nougat was available. I vacillated for about 30 minutes then hit install.

Well… The first thing I noticed when the phone restarted was the Droid splash screen. The little “ting” sounds seemed brighter. I thought it was wishful thinking. So for the last 4 hours I have been out driving, which means Bluetooth driving, in and out of meetings (Bluetooth on and off).

I had no trouble pairing to Bluetooth like last phone

My custom ringtones and sounds are not escalating

But of course it has only been 4 hours.

It is highly possible I have not accidently hit the wrong setting yet that screws up everything.

But right now… I LOVE THIS PHONE THE WAY IT IS!

I must be the one of the lucky ones. And I am glad I am! I really need something for me to hold onto this phone.

I will tackle my husbands phone later and let you know what happened with his.

I don't get why Android 7 wasn't made available for my device... They did the soak tests at THE SAME TIME. The Droid Moto Z Play should have the update that The Droid Z Force and Droid Z has... The lack of saying why pisses me off equally as much as them ignoring this glaring issue...

I'm sure the Moto Z play will get the update as well. But that phone came out a little later than the other two so the update will also probably come out just a little later for your phone.

UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE!

Hello all,

Less than 24 hours… that is all it took for the escalating ringtone to return. However I know why, I think. I am guilty of liking to play a stupid little game. And I am cheap and refuse to pay for it, so it has ads. So an ad popped up and it was so loud that it startled me, and I hit the button on the side of the phone to decrease the volume.  About 5 minutes later I ended my game, and turned the volume back up. Went on with what I was doing.

Another 5 minutes later, received a phone call….and I was mad! The darn ringtone went back to escalating. So I am blaming the hard button on the side of the phone. I never really used it before. I have always swiped the screen in the past.

Now I know I am most likely completely wrong. But I need something to blame this on because prior to this incident, the phone was perfect!

Today I drive and do Bluetooth testing. We will see......

Just my opinion.

Yes, I confirm - both escalating ringtone volume and low notifications volume aren't fixed in Nougat update.

Mods, whats the best thing that we as customers can do about this issue? Are there any official actions or requests that can be submitted?

Could it be that there is not enough complaints to warranty time and resources to this? If 3 million Moto Z's were sold, but only 50 or so people complain on the forums, I'm guessing that's not enough to fully justify the resources to resolve the issue.

Or, could the issue possibly be related to the Google OS? Logic tells me that, since I'm on July patch and everything works well, when the August and September security patches were rolled out, (by Google)  that the issue lies with Google.
