I have had the same issue and Verizon sent me a new phone and I haven't downloaded the update, and the sounds are correct for now, I have called Motorola and haven't received any information back from technical support, hope this gets resolved soon

Re: Quiet notifications moto z

I just bought this phone last week and though there are things to like about it, this issue is a deal breaker for me. I came from a Note 7 and have to decide soon what I will do. Looking at how long this has been going on, I am not hopeful on it. This should have been an easy resolution and Lenovo/Moto should be communicating more on it.

At this point, going back to my Note sounds like what I will end up needing to do, unless there is further word or a fix.

I am in the exact same position. I returned the note 7 this weekend due to the recall and using the z force again. As soon as a replacement note 7 comes out I think I have to go back as I can't use this phone with the quiet notifications. It is embarrassing that moto/Lenovo can't fix this. Also poor service that the only response is that they elevated it to the team.

For me the issue is unfortunate and disappointing but luckily I don't text or get important emails to really warrant a return. Calls are a different matter and at least it's good to know that's working normally. At least Moto Display and the blinking LED light is enough to make sure I don't miss anything.

The only reason I'm hanging on to this phone is that the battery life is absolutely, insanely good, and for now that's enough to warrant tolerating this software bug. However, if it's not fixed in a relatively quick manner then it'll be a long while before I consider a Lenovo phone again.

Yeah, very disappointing. This is going back to VZW tomorrow. Such a great phone and Moto had to mess things up with a simple update. Too bad we can't roll back updates. Without even an acknowledgment from Motorola that there is a problem, I have no sense that they will fix it.

I don't know if I am going to go back to a Note or just turn it in and use my wife's old Iphone until either the V20 or Pixel comes out.

This is absolutely the most pathetic company response, or lack there of, I have ever experienced. The z force is at least a $720.00 phone retail.... Motos call in tech support throws the issue in Googles lap. Which tells me they think their customers are a bunch of mindless idiots.

Absolutely no acknowledgement of this issue from a company level, let alone even a BS time line for correcting it is really pissing me off.

No offense to Matt, you are a forum moderator, I get that... But who is the "team" and why have they not issued a statement whatsoever... These are part of the basic functions of a phone that are screwed up!!!

There are people using their old phones, returning phones, or just frustratingly putting up with it, missing calls, missing, notifications that are important to us!

So is this really the kind of support the future holds for us???

Patience running thin with lack of communication...

Mike

I got the September security update today but the quiet notification problem doesn't seem any better.

Me too. It was a small update and took 25 minutes to install. I guess it is just a security patch and moto couldn't bother to fix the problem they created with the last update.

That stinks.  I saw the update ready and I was excited for the notification volume fix....but alas, no joy.

I may have a solution although I have no idea why it made a difference. I had to take the cover off the back of my z force to put on the protective case I got yesterday and I realized the notifications got louder. Thinking it was the case sitting in the belt clip "amplifying" the sound I took the case off but the notifications were still louder. I haven't had a chance to put the back cover on to see if they go quiet again and I have no idea why it would matter but so far taking that off has solved the issue for me. Hope it does for all of you too.
