The ETA is "soon"... whatever that means.

From an article on GSMArena.com:

"The Motorola Moto Z, which got Nougat last month, has started getting a new update. Arriving as build version NPL25.86-17-3 and weighing in at 540MB, the update doesn't bump the Android OS version, which remains at 7.0.

As for the changes, the update primarily brings along fix for the low notification sound issue that many users have been facing for quite some time now.

Given that the update has just started rolling out, it may take some time before the update notification pops up on your device's screen. Meanwhile, if you feel impatient, you can manually check for the update by heading to your handset's Settings menu.

Just checked, 'Your device's software is up to date.'  I purchased this phone less than 2 weeks ago and am considering exchanging it for a Galaxy 7.

Have they fixed the issue though? No update means no way to really know if they have or not. They haven't exactly been great addy customer service so for all we know, "update coming soon," could mean, "we're still trying to figure it out but maybe this will shut them up for now." Basically, I'll believe it when I see it. Until then I believe nothing Lenovo says nor should anyone else until they have real evidence that their statements are true.

Mine reads that the software is up to date as well, but I did click on the link for more information and it takes me to the Verizon software update site. The new update is listed, includes fixes to known issues and the latest security updates. So the process has started, (at least with Verizon) and we will have it soon.

"Verizon updates" and "soon" should never be used in the same sentence.  Verizon is often the main hold up for pushing out any updates.
