Well, it is a moot point for me now. I returned it today and got a refund. I'm sorry they lost a customer, but that is the way it goes when you don't fix something or even acknowledge there is a problem.

I may have a solution although I have no idea why it made a difference. I had to take the cover off the back of my z force to put on the protective case I got yesterday and I realized the notifications got louder. Thinking it was the case sitting in the belt clip "amplifying" the sound I took the case off but the notifications were still louder. I haven't had a chance to put the back cover on to see if they go quiet again and I have no idea why it would matter but so far taking that off has solved the issue for me. Hope it does for all of you too.

That is very strange. The speaker is in the front so now sure what that would matter. Unfortunately I have not been using the back cover so wouldn't work for me. I appreciate the suggestions. It's a shame moto/Lenovo doesn't bother to help.

I hope it really fixed the problem for you, but that isn't the fix for me. I have had the same case on it from day one and have tried it with and without the case, with and without the back, with and without a mod attached as well.  Same issue...low volume for the notification ringtone.

This is really sad. Motorola had the chance to capture Samsung customers (my husband and I as well) and they screwed up.

Samsung had an epic fail, we left and were looking for another company we could trust. But apparently Motorola cannot even repair and sound issue. An easy fix compared to exploding batteries which Samsung handled well. A sound issue that we cannot just "deal with". We have missed to many important messages and notices.

Needless to say with such avoidance from Motorola on this issue we will not be keeping the 2 Moto Z Force's we purchased.

Such a great phone with such a small issue that no one seems to care about, except for the consumer.  What a shame.

I know this is a problem for a lot of people, and I think it should be fixed.

I use Tejat as my default notification tone, and I'm not having any problem hearing it.  Maybe we can gather a little data?  Whether or not the volume is was diminished after the update and what notification sound you're using?

OK, I used the device help app, went to the fix or repair section. Ran the speaker test... Because of ring tone delay you only vaguely here it until the last second of the test. Answered no to the results question, re ran test, volume loud and clear through out test. Answered yes that I could here it.

Note that when I did this I had Bluetooth disconnected from headset.

Backed out of app, notifications are loud again, no ring tone delay! Yippee!!! Not quite, volume button is now defaulted to in call volume, and as soon as you connect to Bluetooth device, problems with sound return. But you are stuck with the default volume control for in call volume until you reboot the phone.

So, if you want to take the extra steps to control your ringer/notification volume, and you don't use Bluetooth I guess this is a temporary fix for some people.

Not for me, and today's update was actually just a security patch, it was about 1/4th the size of the update which jacked all our phones up.

So if this so called "team" is actually reading this, there's some more hints.

Not very bright ? of moto to not be attacking this problem. And if they actually are working on it,  it's literally idiotic to not convey that to your customer base. Which by the way seems to be dwindling slowly!

Unfortunately like a complete and utter idiot I updated hoping for improvement and now my notifications are quite again.. This is my fourth Z... My projector comes tomorrow too.. I was really hoping the newest update were fixes but just security stuff I guess...My luck the last week has been horrible. My 6p crashed and is dead ,of course no help from Google or HUAWEI.Then my sister gives me a newer computer and when I boot it's broke because some how when erasing her stuff she erased the brain of the computer. So I go to hook my older computer back up and guess what..drum rollllll....my computer will not even turn on ..Maybe it's just time to get a flip phone and go off the grid...

Hey I tried your solution and it seems to work for me but I don't use Bluetooth. We'll see how long it lasts.

I'm glad it is working for you. works for me until I use Bluetooth, which is required at times, so its a hit or miss fix for me. Hopefully we get a fix for this issue soon. Until then I hope others can find this temp fix useful.
