I am not sure the solution is complete. The notifications for sms are nice and loud. I can barely hear notifications for mms.

Mantici,

It's the reeboot that does it. This is how my Z Force has worked since Sept. After turning the phone off and back on I would have normal sound for about two and a half days and then it would disappear again and I would have to reboot the phone. Then it got to where it would only last for one day, so I just started turning my phone off every night before I go to bed and then back on in the morning. That seems to keep things working as best as possible. I know everybody wants the notifications as loud as possible but if you've ever been talking on the phone and had a notification comes blaring through in your ear it is scary & deafening. If anyone really wants to test this... set a route in your GPS and start navigating, call a friend and start talking on the phone as you approach your next turn and wait until the "Google Girl" comes thru the earpiece speaker (blaring in your ear) telling you to turn left in 100 feet.

THAT'S WHY YOU ALWAYS USE 2 SEPERATE SPEAKERS ON A CELL PHONE!!!

Hey everyone,

Just got my Moto Z Play (the dual sim variant), love the phone...but hard to use when i keep missing notifications. Any updates Moto moderators? Shame you can be given permission to provide an update, even if there isn't one to at least provide some semblance of constant and consistent communication...

Thanks

1st thing that needs to be done, is that the mods need to remove the "solved" identification on this thread.

'I have not read all 67 pages of this thread (it might have been mentioned) but I can tell you what the problem is.

We all know that when the phone starts to ring when a new call comes in, the volume starts low and gradually over a few seconds gets up to full volume.  A lot of phones do this.  Maybe it is a courtesy feature or something.  I wish it was something I could switch off.  I know when my ringer should be low.

Because the ringtone and notification levels are tied to each other, this gradual increase in volume is affecting the notification 'start' volume too.  To demonstrate it, all you have to do is open up an app that has notifications.  Pick a notification that has a long duration.  I just grabbed one that I made that happens to be 15 seconds.  When you select the notification tone from the list of tones, it will start to play.  It will be at low volume.  After about 4 or 5 seconds, just push on another (short duration) notification from the list.  It will play at a high volume level (assuming that ring volume is at max. level)  Then, if you push on that very same short duration notification again, it will play at the low level that is annoying everyone here.

Hopefully some of that makes sense.

I really like this phone quite a bit, but if I did my homework upfront, and discovered that there is NO independent adjustment for ringtone and notification, I would not have bought this phone.  Not having this adjustability is something that I actually hate about this thing.

What most all of us missed, is that there is only one speaker in this phone, that has to serve as an ear piece and a speaker for everything else. All notifications and media has to go through it. I didn't realize it until after the "grace" period was up. I've never had a phone before with this situation. Most unfortunate, as I really like the phone also.

I agree 100% that the "SOLVED" designation needs to be removed from this thread at least until there is a firm timeline for the release of said fix. I, too, wish I hadn't picked this phone to replace my Note 7.  The Pixel, or even the Galaxy S7 Edge would have been a better choice.   Too late now, unfortunately.

No offense to anyone here, but it's time to wake up and smell the coffee.....

There is no fix coming....

It's all just a smoke screen and words to appease us all and keep us happily looking forward to something that isn't going to happen.... Think about it people.

You could be right. might explain why it says solved. To them it's not a problem. They already got our money . But some doing research before buying a Moto z. That's is all they will look at "SOLVED" they won't see anything else
