Re: Android Auto Connection Problems

Hi chrisemme1,

Thanks for posting. May I know what is the model of your phone? Also, please make sure the Android Auto app is up to date.

Best regards,
Rich

Re: Android Auto Connection Problems

Customer support is an absolute joke. Is agent rich the only tech support assigned to this problem? If I read another post directing us to "be sure Android auto is up to date" I might lose it! Hey Rich, we ALL uninstalled, reinstalled, updated, etc. That would be the most obvious fix whichwoccurred to us long ago. We have also tried multiple USB cables.

THAT IS NOT THE PROBLEM.

I you need to hear that you are working on a software fix. This is completely ridiculous. Your phones are substandard and all the responses I read in this forum only serve to promote the idea that your company does not take this issue seriously.

I depend on Android auto. I invested a lot of money in an expensive factory audio system when I bought my car. Your phones are no longer compatible and I feel ripped off.

What a joke

Android Auto not working with Moto Z Play

Hello,

I recently bought a new 2019 Subaru WRX and it came with Android Auto.  I have tried several different things, I've read so many different help forums, and I just cannot seem to get it to work for more than 3 minutes.  I recently purchased a 6 inch USB-C charger because I've read about having a shorter connection that would help make it work.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app on my phone, as well as rebooting the phone prior to use.  I tried to factory reset my car's entertainment system a few times.  I refuse to factory reset my phone because I have too many things on the device that I do not want to lose. I really dont want to have to upgrade my phone since I have only had it less than two years.  It is currently updated with version 8.0.0 and also it says I have version ODN27.76-12-30-8-1 which was applied in Oct 2018- I have not gotten any new updates since then.  I've turned on the Developer Options, I also turned on the USB debugging option.  Since I have done that, I have the option to change my phone from "Charging" to "Install Software" in that USB option in the header drop down of the device which allows AA to operate for about 3 minutes before it quits.  The app automatically launches with no issues on my phone, it just wont mirror the entertainment screen on the car for longer than those 3 minutes. I'm at a loss here, am I missing anything here?  It works no problem with my husbands phones (he has two Samsungs- personal phone and work phone, and they work for the entire trip (longer than 3 minutes).  I really would like to use my Google Maps especially when we drive down the shore.  Anyone know what's going on.  Thanks in advance.

If you search the entire forum you'll see that issues with Android Auto is a pretty common topic.  One of the main issues seems to be the cable, most folks seem to have better results using the cable that came with the phone. Here are just a few examples of the many threads about Android Auto:

Re: Android Auto not working with Moto Z Play

For what it's worth, after struggling with Android Auto for months, my problem ended up being in my charging/ data port. It would charge but wasn't recognized when I connected to a conputer. My phone was still under warranty and when I got my new one the problem was solved.
