Google sends updates to all manufacturers together and not rolling the updates out is Motorola's decision. Si I'm pretty sure Motorola is to blame for the slow updates. Specially when android p has been out for months.

^ we've all seen that link and heard the lip service. My phone is paid off, but now I know not to buy Motorola again.
I'm posting this April 7 2019
A year after my last security update.
Shame on Motorola, no more excuses just push ota like every other manufacturer on Android

"That you are stuck on April 2018 patch is unfortunate but that's your own fault of you just sit there and wait for an OTA too magically fix that. "
^ Ok, what should I do to fix it? The website clearly says go to system, update, and if there is one it comes over the air. When I do this nothing happens.
Enlighten me, maybe with less sarcasm, arrogance.

I have tried factory reset many times, does nothing. I don't think getting a rom from random site is good for security lol. But thanks, it's not just this phone. I have bought another z2, and two other x4's, and they are all garbage, all a year behind on security release.
I am glad some of you can make it work with this company but I have given them thousands the last few years and all they have given me is grief.
To send to repair place would be more than the phone is worth sadly.
Thanks Lenovo, you ruined a once great US brand. You are riding the coat tails of the motorola of the 90s and as soon as the old people who remember that are dead or too feable to buy their own phones and on to jitterbug or whatever, you will wither away.
I should have mentioned all the steps I have tried to get what I think is basic, security patch level raised to within 365 days.
Thanks for trying to help though bro, more than anyone from the company has done.
