you blame Motorola for your "unique" situation?
Everyone else has regular bi-monthly updates, yet because your last update was a year ago, this somehow is the "Norm" and not the "exception"
Let me phrase it another way : " You Are SPECIAL"
Instead of B'tchin about how awful your world is, start a new topic and try to fix it.
I recommend you Sideload a current update, it might fix whatever is bugged. Sounds like the updater is being blocked from reaching the server.
Also your best friend for support is going to be XDA forums.

11 Days past the last date of promised schedule (Q1 of 2019) and yet no sign of Pie for Moto Z2 Play.No apology,nor even any explanation for failing the schedule set by Motorola themselves.At least some courtesy?Some gentlemanly treatment towards your customers,dear Motorola/Lenovo?People are waiting patiently.
At least you can provide a renewed timeline.Much difficult, gentlemen?

This summarizes beautifully what has been going on. I happen to be one of those remembering 90s' Motorola and, sadly, this is likely to be my last Motorola in a long, long time. Personally I believe I've never seen a mid-range phone camera with so poor, atrocious, close and macro range performance. Official camera app at Play was one of the most downvoted apps. As others have said, this is not the treatment given by a great company, no sir.
