Can a moto z force screen go onto a play?

2017-04-25, 22:23 PM

I recently broke my screen and about to buy parts to fix it.  But i was wondering if i could take a moto z force screen and make it work for my moto z play.  Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated.

Hi kryptonic1212,

The screen of a Moto Z Force is different from the screen of a Z Play so it won't fit. If the screen is broken, I would suggest having it repaired to a service center to make sure you have the correct screen.

The screens are roughly the same sizes (5.5 inches they would have to be in order for the mods to fit the back side, but might be thicker.), but they have vastly different resolutions. The Force screens are Quad HD screens, while the Play is just a 1080p screen. The resolution difference may be the nail in the coffin from it working.  Not to mention the Force has a better GPU. Mixing and matching hardware on devices like these is almost considered a sure fire way they will not work. As much as these devices are compared to them, they're not computers.

I've had both phones and screens are totally different. Easiest way to tell difference is two mics on force screen and only 1 on play. Also force screen is shatter proof which is VERY easy to scratch. Don't bother! Get a play screen for play device.

I forgot about that, and the nearby sensors are different too. The Z, and Force have the two IR sensors near the bottoms of the screen, while the Play uses the proximity sensor near the earpiece/speaker. Just more things not supported for the Play.

Hello. Sorry for digging this up.

It's sorta similar question but will the Morn Z Force display fit the Moto Z version?

I know the shatter proof difference but maybe besides that it will?
