Re: New shrink screen gesture is unusable

2017-09-18, 22:03 PM

The issue is universal except to the Engineers at Motorola/Lenovo.
I miss those days when Motorola had well thought out nifty little features (except for the Motoblur Horror).
These days it seems to be half-baked features, misleading advertising :smileysad: It is very sad to see your favorite brand fall so hard

Definitely agree. I've reached out to Moto a number of times via Twitter and it's to the point where they ignore my posts. Even worse when I pick up my phone and touch it with my palm it shrinks. But I can never get it to work on my own. Like who's idea was this? It is way too inconsistent. Like all of you have mentioned, the app will begin to scroll or it'll activate the pull down bar. I love you Moto but this was just terrible. Please bring back the original 3 gestures.

Re: New shrink screen gesture is unusable

I totally agree that before was more useful than now. Anyway, I think a found a way for it not to fail so frequently. For me it works at least 90% of the time, it doesn't matter if it is scrolling the app, once you finish the process it should shrink anyway.

You should do as it is shown in the demo of the Moto app and then follow the 3rd step which is the most important.

1st you should start with your finger on the CENTER of the screen.

2nd you should swipe to either of the BOTTOM CORNERS of the SCREEN (Not the bottom corner of the phone). Note: It doesn't matter if it starts scrolling through the app.

UNTIL HERE YOU KNOW THE PROCESS AS IT IS SHOWN IN THE DEMO OF THE MOTO APP.

3rd and this is the tricky part, you should HOLD you finger there, at the BOTTOM CORNER of the screen, for about one or two seconds and THEN realesed it, and it should shrink.

I hope it works for all of you as it has been working for me, Motorola should return to the old method some day but in the mean time, I hope you find this helpful.

Thank you. I tried it and it works for me part of the time, and it's quite tricky.  So if I want to do it quickly (on the go) it will  still be hard to rely on. But at least I know there's a way!

Keep swiping all the way to the corner (just past the square in the bottom right for example) and don't swipe too fast. I tried swiping quickly many times and kept giving up once I saw the screen start to scroll, but the Moto's screen is still recognizing the gesture even when the screen is scrolling. Just finish the gesture to the corner edge. It's not as good as the old gesture because of the length of the swipe and the patience required compared to other swipe gestures I'm used to, but it works.

can you please just use Huawei's implementation of swipe to shrink? AFAIK, they put their code as open source, and their implementation is PERFECT. a simple left-to-right (or the opposite) swipe on the bottom of the screen across overview and back button , and done! super, super simple, fast, no room for error, easy to learn, does not refreshes chrome, nothing wrong with it, perfect! please just copy their code, and their method.

The new gesture to reduce the screen size is the worst gesture ever thought!!!!! It's disgusting. That gesture scrolls down the app you're using and never work!! Please get back the bottom-up gesture ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you! :-)

Please take this post seriously, please, please.

ASAP PLEASE!!!!!!
