The security "Trusts" are for logon convenience....I am pretty sure they apply to the Moto Z...

For example, lets say you pair your phone with the bluetooth radio in your car. You can then go under Security settings, and establish that car as a trusted device. Then you won't have to type in a logon password while paired to your car.

I would not use that with smaller, portable items like bluetooth headsets...for if both your phone and the headset were stolen, that would allow entry into the phone if both were on in close proximately.

Of course, with the fingerprint reader in your Moto Z, this is not as important as some other Moto models without fingerprint readers.

I also have no trusts in my security settings. Bluetooth keeps being dead. Doesn't matter if switched on or off.

Still waiting for Motorola UK to arrange a courier. Been 2 weeks now. So far after me calling and emailing them 3 or 4 times I've had reasons like "Sorry it was a bank holiday we're a bit behind" (last week) and "Definitely today or latest tomorrow" (yesterday).  Still nothing.

Heading for a complaint I feel.

If anyone from Motorola with any power to help me is reading this my UK case No. is [Incident: 170425-004188].

Cheers.

I found a quite new entry at an Androids developer website:

"Google modified the handling of the Bluetooth "Service Discovery" database (again)"

This was named in the context of Android 7 (Nougat) Bluetooth issues.

Could that be the reason? I have to confess that I don't know how open Google communicates such things to their customers...

Finally.

I just got my phone back, they ended up replacing the mainboard which has solved the problem. So pretty much most of the phone has been replaced as it now has a new IMEI number. Hope that info helps you get yours fixed.

Cheers.

If the solution is to change the whole mainboard there seems to be a big quality control issue at Lenovo/Motorola. ? I won't send in my phone unless there is a product recall. With so many broken devices I would expect something like that!

I still hope for a firmware patch. If that or are recall isn't done this will be my first and last Moto. ?

Hi EGD79,

If everything has been tried even resetting with the Automatic restore disabled didn't work, I would like to get a bug report right after getting the same issue for us to check.

1. Go to Settings -> About Phone -> Tap on Build number 7 times on the build number to go into the developer options mode]
2. After the above steps, Developer options will be enabled.
3. Go to Settings ->Developer options -> Enable USB debugging > Toggle On
4. Enable Settings -> Developer options -> Enable Bug Report shortcut > Toggle On
5. Enable Settings -> Developer options -> Enable Enable Bluetooth HCI snoop log > Toggle On
6. Once the issue is reproduced, Go to Settings -> Developer options -> Click on take bug report or Press Power button and then choose Bug Report from the Power down menu.
7. Wait for some time until the bug report is collected. It takes around 3 to 4 minutes to collect the Bug Report.
8. Then upload the BugReport to your personal Google Drive and then share the link to the BugReport on the forums in a reply or via a private message.
9. Provide observations of what you saw happen right before the bug report was taken. Please indicate the time that you observed the behavior in local time.

Thanks,

Regards,
Jess

I have the same issue, theoretically I shouldn't have to toggle ON or do so rarely. This was the case with my previous Note 3 since 2013.

Hi, Jess. I'm having the same issue as Sarah did, but when I get to "tap 3 dots" step, I don't see anything like that under locations. I just got this phone and if this can't be corrected, it's a deal breaker.
