Re: Moto Z Erratic Battery Discharge/Phone Shutting Off

2018-08-07, 1:33 AM

I am having this problem as well as is my husband only his does not shut down as often as mine. Possibly because he has not done the 8.0 update. Did you ever get any resolution?

I chatted online with Motorola today. They tell me they will not cover the phone as they have not received any complaints showing this is an issue with other Moto Z users. How can that be when this forum and the internet is littered with complaints about this very issue?

Because Motorola is ignorant, immoral and unethical. Which is why I won't be buying another phone made by them. They need to take responsibility...but they won't.

Re: Major Battery Drain After Oreo Update

2018-08-07, 4:20 AM

I have placed the phone in safe mode, reset the apps, completed a factor reset both with reinstall of apps and without and have deleted every app I could. Nothing had worked. When not tethered to a charging cable the phone consistently shuts down with very little use, e.g. ae little ad one pic, one call, or a fee minutes of use will cause phone to randomly shut down.

Hi rssss,

Thanks for posting here. I'd like to confirm, are you also having a quick discharge issue? And the other concern is the Bluetooth and Wifi? I'd like to help. Have you tried the suggested troubleshooting steps above? Let me know what happened. Thanks.

Best regards,
Rich

Hi BryanOnTheRun,

Thanks for trying. Indeed, it looks like really a faulty battery concern now. It's better to have it check by our technicians so they can repair it. You can follow the link I provided above if you're interested in the warranty options. Let me know if you have a question. Thanks.

Best regards,

By " Indeed, it looks like really a faulty battery concern now." do you mean an overall Oreo Software issue, or a hardware issue with my phone?

Hi BryanOnTheRun,

It looks like an issue with the battery. We cannot blame it's an Oreo issue.

Rich, please stop telling everyone that the problem comes from installed apps or any hardware defects. It's your Oreo update and you know that. Many customers complaining about massive battery drains after the update! I am frustrated by your support! Please provide us an update that fixes the issue. I am Android developer and I know pretty much about the whole Android system. So please stop lying to your customers and tell the truht!
