Moto Z XT1650-03 RETEU & Battery & wifi 5Ghz

2018-03-29, 23:07 PM

I recently bought this phone. And then I had problems with it:
1) I charge it to 100% branded charging. I reboot the phone - the charge is already 70%. Is this normal for this unit?
2) My home access point works at 5GHz and on the 44th channel. He does not see it, but access points on 2.4 without problems. Although everywhere written that this device has the ability to work on both frequencies. Is it my phone or does it have to be repaired?

Hello TE3,

Thanks for reaching out. We are ready to assist here. We have a few suggestions to address your first concern and we need more information on your second concern.

1. Try calibrating the phone's battery to see if it helps. We do recommend these steps to re-calibrate the battery. Press and hold the power button until the screen turns off. The phone will reboot then on its own. (We call this a hard reset; it's equivalent to pulling the battery in days of removable batteries.) Charge the phone to 100% and then leave it on the charger for a few hours.

2. Is the phone working on other channels on the 5Ghz band? Did you make any software modifications to the phone?

Regards,

JM

Good afternoon!

Thanks that so quickly responded to my report on problems.

1)  I did it. After the overload (performed - "holding the power button until the reboot," by the way after this reboot, I "lost" the system time and date on the phone - so it should be?), Connect the charging and charging the phone all night, in the morning, reset the phone the usual way ( from the menu) - a total of 61% of the charge.
2) I have tried channels 36, 38, 40, 44, 48, 157,161 - none of the phones can see the access point. After switching the channel, I performed the wifi shutdown and "update".

Thank you. Just to clarify, did you make any software modifications to the phone?

No. Just did not have time. I ordered an unlock code on the site, but I did not have time to use it, because I ran into these problems. And to introduce one more "unknown fluctuation" in the phone's work is wrong, first you need to solve the existing ones.
Yes, I have more questions. Here is the phone's graph on the weekend. He was almost inactive, but still ... 2 days of work. In the working mode (calls, whatsapp, mail, at lunch a few YouTube videos), he keeps the day without recharging, although I must admit I come with him already with 5% charge or less. But 12 hours for such a battery is solid. In Antutu battery test, he scored 3904 points (I do not know much or not) Here is the graph for the weekend.

Further, so the problem with the battery was not solved, I turned to Lenovo service-center to replace the battery, although I was not sure what it was. And then I was literally "taken aback" by a statement: a replacement on this phone requires the screen to be unstucked and often the screen "bursts / breaks", which will also require a replacement. And the cost of repair is growing. Explain to me why if it is a factory fault or error of the authorized service center staff, do I have to pay for this? !!!

Still, about the Wifi module they, too, could not help, except for its replacement. Is it really impossible to tell by serial number / IMEI what kind of phone it is and what should it be? Or does not Llano follow what and in what configuration releases?

So I had two questions when I opened them, only questions about the work of the company were added to them ... But this is secondary, the main thing I want to get answers is how to solve these two questions. This is the first time I've come across this.

As long as the charge level drops, I decide to connect the charging to the reset cycle - then the battery level remains the same, but this is a working solution, not a absolute solution!
But I do not even know what to do with the file. Is it possible to find out what module I have and at what frequencies should it work? Or a program that checked all the composing phones and compiles a report?

Hi TE3,

Kindly backup all your data and perform factory data reset. I would also advise you to remove your Google account from the phone before proceeding with it. The steps are here: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/indevice_detail/a_id/112157/p/30,6720,9833

After the reset, please test the phone BEFORE installing or updating any of your third-party applications. Let us know what happens.

Regards,

JM

Hi!

I made a dumped full reset. I did everything according to the instructions. Nothing has changed, rebooting - everything also "deprives" my battery of 30-40% of the charge.
But during normal operation the battery does not show any signs that it is "hors-don".

What to do?

Hello!

Your silence is a sign that you are throwing your customers with the problems of their devices "as is"? And about the legendary support for Motorola, I can forget how yesterday's dream?

Given that it stands as the flagship of other manufacturers and who, with the help of users, everything is fine?

This is very interesting, how have you obtained the logfile?

It' would be great to compare these  measurements between other problematic phones.

I think this clearly shows that the phone thinks the battery is defective (bad), and according to the measurement of the internal battery resistance (ESR) the battery seems to be indeed already wasted.

<6>[    9.242627,3] FG: populate_system_data: cutoff_voltage = 2999860, nom_cap_uah = 2681000 p1p2 = 43, p2p3 = 9

Another very interesting part. My interpretation: Because of the high internal resistance of the battery, which means the battery will lose higher  voltage under load, the phone seems to raise the cutoff voltage from nominal 2.68 V to the much higher value of 2.99 V to establish a higher safety margin if the voltage breaks in because of a high load (e.g. when the camera activated).

When you only discharge the battery to roughly 3 V this translates to a steep reduction of used battery capacity.

How does Rising Internal Resistance affect Performance? (Battery University)
