Re: Moto Z - extreme battery drain after 7.1.1 update

2018-03-31, 8:19 AM

Ok so I got my Moto Z back from repair , and it's worse than the battery , it's the mainboard but it's fixed my battery issue ! Yesterday was on all day and only used40% of battery !

Here is the bad bits though customer service is shocking , but in the end they have stayed with me throughout it took a whole 35 days from start to finish.

Also mine was done without cost , are they starting to realise there is a manufacturing fault ?

Send it for repair soon as possible , phone them also as speaking with a real person helps and don't pay anything !  Even over the phone !

Was this primarily the known Bluetooth / Wlan problem?

And how can you know they haven't exchanged the battery too?

Add me to the list of people experiencing problems with their Moto Z battery after the 7.1.1 update. I made another thread asking if anyone had found a solution and clearly the answer is to get it repaired since it seems to do irreversible damage to the internal battery.

A sort of "fix" I have come up with is to switch my Moto Mod Powerpak to the default mode which keeps the phone at 100% battery life rather than efficiency mode: this way it doesn't rely on the internal battery at all until the mod runs out since the internal battery is what's causing all of the problems. At this point I have conceded that the add-on I bought for my phone that was meant to extend its battery life, has now become the battery.

I suppose I woud need to purchase another battery mod to get the original effect right? Just a terrible situation and needless to say I don't think that I'll be getting another Motorola phone in the future if they decide to break their customer's phone just outside of warranty with a shoddy update.

I have stayed away from all updates since October. When I initially downloaded 7.1.1., immediately after my phone started acting up. I thought it couldn't get worse.. wrong! A security update came out a few months later. I thought that Motorola sent out this update to help fix this problem. Oh so Wrong!!! Instead the security update made my phone even worse!!! Since then...about 5 months now, I have refused to download any updates. My phone slowly, over time, got worse anywsy and now can Only be used when plugged in...it will shut off completely if unplugged after just a few seconds.

Hi just FYI:

I made a master reset and it seems better now. Not that the problem dissappeared but at least when recharged and NOT rebooted it lasts for a day.

and from onother forum: will there be OREO for Moto Z for Europe?

Cheers

This seems to be no general cure, I made a reset out of curiosity and my battery level just dived from 55% to 5% with a sudden reboot.
