Re: Moto Z - extreme battery drain after 7.1.1 update

2017-11-01, 22:59 PM

"Hello guys! If you already did a factory data reset and tested BEFORE installing or restoring ANY apps, and problem persists, then service/repair is next step."

-JM

That is the latest response from a "senior moto agent" on here...  Basically, they are saying, "your on your own"

I have yet to see one response from them that they are really working to correct this problem. I own 2 businesses ,one of which is a small PC repair biz and just by doing some research ( yes, I google!!) I have solved almost 100 % of my customers problems. I don't know how many research and development people are working for them, but surely they could have solved this problem by now.. Wonder if they loaded 7.1.1 on their phones first before giving it to us?

People, quit doing all this resetting, pulling Sims, giving these "people" your IMEI #( I doubt they even looked into your phones after you gave them the info) ,etc, etc.

They are making US work for them. It's like Windows 10...Let's just Beta an entire OS and see what happens. They don't care.!!

Just "google" this problem and see the comments out there. There are many regarding this battery drain going back many months. There are like half a dozen on this site alone.

I was lucky, as I mentioned in one of my previous posts. I purchased the protection plan from assurion that allows me to return a defective phone within a year and get a free replacement.

I'm running 7.0 and have ignored the updates and have gone like 4 days without a charge. I'm not a heavy user, but after the update, I was charging everyday whilst using the phone in the same exact manor.

I believe I mentioned first on here about a class action suit( Scott echoed those sentiments..Thanks!!) ..I'm going to call an attorney buddie of mine and see about that. As Tom on here stated, It's time to get this out on social media!! Post on anything you can..It's a start!!

As they said in the old days..."The squeaky wheel gets the grease" Let's go for it!!

I just posted a comment that was deleted. Nothing bad. Just calling Lenovo out. Watch what you guys say!!

Let's hit social media on this and check into a class action!

And BTW, what's a guy gotta do to get a "Kudo" around here? Thanks for the posts by Tom and Scott!

After a full firmware reflash, the situation seems to be better:

But I need to investigate more.

I'm not sure if it relly helped. After one of resets I had also good result where screen was on top uf usage list but it lasted maybe 2 days and came back to "normal".

How did you install SW? Via RSD lite and full SW file?
As far as I know from different systems if you will perform factory reset it should be enough to get stable behavior - if it's not working then problems are caused by poor SW implementation.

Re: Moto Z - extreme battery drain after 7.1.1 update

I am experiencing the same battery drain issue after 7.1.1. I have Motorola Privacy enabled and I have my IMEI but I can't seem to find where to enter it into my profile*. Things I've tried and things I've noticed: I have tried a full factory reset, I have cleared the cache partition several times, the handset gets very hot and the battery remaining percentage drops very quickly, the handset doesn't get as hot on wifi just on 4G, turning location services on also heats the handset up rather quickly, Android system is usually the highest battery usage, even higher than screen power.

*EDIT: Disregard, I figured out where to enter my IMEI in my profile. It took quite a bit of searching to find the information though, might want to make it more visible.

Factory reset last night.  Logged in and reinstalled apps according to my Google account.  You be the judge...

(And this has been the third factory reset I have performed in the last month.)

I wish you could help me because the situation after the update to 7.1.1 is increadible! The phone turn off when still have 50% of charge. Sometimes, with 20% of charge doesn'r turn off and last for hours keeping 20%. It is very clear that it is a bug in the battery manager and only you can fix it.
