Yes, it's very irritating! Random shut downs and incorrect battery reporting leaves me wondering if my battery is ever really charged. I wish Droid model had an unlockable bootloader. I would've switched to LOS or RR ROMs. Since both support Moto Mods, get security updates quicker and has Android pay support. Not having an unlockable bootloader with an issue like this just makes this more frustrating.

Yeah and the worst part is the moto staffs in this forum is turning a blind eye to our posts...How can they be like this to their flagship customers?

Ah, yes!  The random shutdown with roughly 30% power.  This has happened a few times on my device.

I'm also having serious battery issues.  The battery only lasts a few hours.  On re-boot it drops 50%.  I get the best battery life if I manually switch on Battery Saver mode.  When I can't keep the phone plugged in, I carry the Mophie Battery mod and that helps a lot.  I've had the phone since January so I need to get this squared away before the warranty expires.  Looks like there is a widespread issue...

I think that this could be HW issue with battery itself :(

 

I assume my HW is ok - it can discharge till 1% and then switch off phone.

Yesterday I received latest update and left phone overnight without charger - there is a big progress with standby drain, there is way less phone activity when screen is off than it was earlier. I will monitor itbut so far I have 12h  since full charge and 1h 35m sot. and still 27% of battery available.

But as I said I think that my hw is ok, my only issue was battery consumption.

Will you try to factory reset or reflash to have more SoT? It was working for me.

Still I don't know how did you flash full SW :)

Factory reset was done few days ago, so far I didn't have time to do it again.

I do not have problem with early shutdown... my battery go out until 1% normally.... but very fast... I have observed that in the first minutes after charge 100%  the battery descreased more fast... for example, i just saw my phone go from 100% to 95% in 16 minutes in sleeping mode...

Generally this behavior is common to most android phones I had, only rate of this decrase was higher at Moto. I look at overall battery performance mostly.

Even when shutting off at around 40% power, the device won't reboot.  It shows the Moto screen and then just shuts off.  This isn't hardware.  This is some sort of system software error that can't read the battery's charge and tell the processor what the hell to do.

 

I know the Moto folks know something's wrong here, and just don't want to admit that they have no clue as to a fix.

 

Perhaps the next step is to start blasting our grievances on social media.
