You liar!  You know good and well that there are problems, and refuse to provide a fix.

Actually, i am a volunteer, so i have no fix to supply. And no, no liar here. I can only respond to threads i see. In this old thread there is not much to go on.

But now i see the thread you didnt supply a link to, so i will combine them.

I am not aware of a problem as My GSM Z has been fine though, so this issue doesn’t affect all, which makes it harder to isolate.

Re: Moto Z - extreme battery drain after 7.1.1 update

Good to have someone notice that this is an isssue even though this comes across as profoundly disingenuous given the number of complaints here and on other forums.

I had a lengthy discussion with a Verizon customer service representative last night, and they are more than aware of the problem.  I was informed that around 1% of this device experienced the same problem after the 7.1.1 upgrade, and that it is, indeed, a system software issue.  After performing diagnostics on my device, we could only conclude that the system software was corrupted somewhere.

I managed to get Verizon, here in the United States, to replace my phone through their extended warranty program.  Unfortunately, that doesn't help the countless others worldwide who are unable to resolve this issue.  Furthermore, after the one year warranty has lapsed, I fear Lenovo/Motorola aren't going to be of much help.  That one has to complain on multiple threads just to get someone's attention only speaks to how far the Moto brand has fallen in recent years.

I'm going to stay active on this thread, as I think it's completely unfair that anyone paying this much for a handset should have to deal with this kind of poor customer service.  Maybe if this was a burner phone bought on a cheap plan, I could understand.  But this device was marketed and sold as a flagship.

"could only conclude that the system software was corrupted somewhere"

This suggest me that a full reflash would help someone who has no hw failure.

That was the impression I got from my conversation.  It seems logical that there could be a way of just rooting the device and reinstalling the software.  However, why should someone who pays a lot of money for a flagship phone on a big-name carrier have to do this?  If I wanted to do that, I'd have just stuck with my old Nexus 6 or bought a Pixel.

I'm a tech at a cell phone repair shop. Had a lady come in today with her Moto Z saying she has to charge it 4 or 5 times a day and it's ridiculous. I had to explain to her that this was a known issue with the latest update and that now she is at the mercy of Motorola. It will get fixed whenever they feel like fixing it. I told her I'm in the same boat. I seriously doubt that this is a hardware failure, and if it is, this phone is extremely difficult to get into for repair. Multiple people here have confirmed that it only started happening with latest software update so it can't be hardware. And now we wait. It's been nothing but complete silence from official Motorola channels so far.

You don't need root nor unlocked bootloader to reflash the official full firmware. A tech in a phone shop could do that.

Recently I mentioned that latest update (npls26.118-20-5-3) improved my battery - seems stil valid.

But as usually it came at a cost - today I had two self resets of the phone.

Does it mean hat I have to put this phone again to a drawer and wait 1-2 months for another update?
