Re: Moto Z - extreme battery drain after 7.1.1 update

2017-11-08, 23:00 PM

I have the same problem with moto z, i have the current patch of 7.1.1 I bought it in Australia, but im here in Philippines, the battery does not show the correct capacity, often the battery will show 30% above but after a while moto z will shut down then When i tried to power on again, i will show battery empty.. Also there is on occasion that 1% battery but it last for several mins to 30 mins.

Please help to solve this problem. This is my first motorola phone. Hopefully not the last.

Hello everyone...looks like this thing is nailed down. Please people, don't waste anymore time on this unless it's your bag to mess with this stuff.

Some of you have been able to correct this problem, but those, in my humble opinion, are in the minority here.

Again, I was lucky. I had insurance that allowed me to get a replacement for a defective phone.

I'm running 7.0 with all my same apps and all is well. I'm rejecting all the updates.

I see 4 solutions to this issue..

1) The R & D dept @ Lenovo find the solution and issue an update.

2) Root it and install a custom ROM or flash it back or whatever you geeks do.

3) Bite the bullet and get a new phone.

4) Throw it at someone you are P O'd at or smash it with a hammer. Then do #3 above.

The last post from a mod on here until recently was Oct 30th and that was "stock" answer.

Just as they took away the " Breathing" feature from the moto app with no explaination, they simply don't care. Enough people will buy their product to make up the loss from this.

Our only hope is to get the word out there to others. Best of luck to you all..Cheers!

Clearly they need a Beta channel for updates. Feels like I'm running some wonky Alpha build. Custom ROMS for flagships like "this” fix these problems at a much faster rate. What ever happened to quality control?

Same battery problem here in Brazil, draining too fast, phone turning off at 20-50%... Sent it today to local assistance because I've purchased it 11-22-2016...

Here my suspicious was almost confirmed: the Android 7.1.1 did something REALLY BAD to my (our) Moto Z.

Re: Moto Z - extreme battery drain after 7.1.1 update

Received new device from Verizon extended warranty program after an hour of complaining about my handset not working.  New device has 7.1.1 pre-installed.  Currently, the device is holding a charge like a Moto Z Force should.

Meanwhile, the Lenovo/Motorola folks have chosen to just ignore peoples' complaints.  And as a result of this terrible experience, I certainly won't be buying another Moto device in the future.

My advice would be to somehow scream and complain to your wireless provider (assuming you can) that they need to find a way to either flash a new version of 7.1.1 or replace your device altogether.  It is apparent that the people at Lenovo/Motorola either don't know what to do or just don't care.

After visit the motorola autorized center here in Colombia, they said to me that the phone has not warranty, and it is probably the processor (after all the problems that the phone have).

my advice everyone... DONT BUY MOTOROLA ANYMORE!  dont waste your money.

Great news Scott! Surprising that you are running smoothly again dispite the new phone running 7.1.1. If everyone could be so lucky! When I get home and on my PC, I will post my comment from last night that they deleted. And I will post it again and again until everyone sees it.
