Re: Moto Z - extreme battery drain after 7.1.1 update

Tried 1st one didn't work..
That won't work too(Did that twice)
No you can't do it since the device is OEM locked..

Replacing battery won't do any good since its a software issue..

Ffs we just have to wait...

"Resinstall 7.1.1 from an external image?"

You can do it without oem unlocking if you have the full offical image that fits your device.

Is this problem connected to the use of Incipio PowerPack???

Rohit5r: Let us put aside the emotional aspect of the story (which I totally share BTW).

Do you use Incipio PowerPack, and have you used it when/before the issue started?

Also, I have to note that other phones (non-Lenovo/Motorola) report similar issue w/ 7.1.1. So, it might be the Google issue (this does not excuse Lenovo/Motorola though).

Re: Moto Z Battery Lasts Less than ONE HOUR!

2017-11-12, 17:08 PM

Something strange going on ... today I charged the phone in OFF position to 100%.  Then switched the phone ON.  It started and then immidately shut down.

Having phone OFF I have connected it to the charger again (Moto Z original charger). The phone showed 5% charge!  It charged up to 100% in about 30-35 mins. I have to note that the phone remained cool.

Swithced it ON. It did start, but the charge started going down quite quickly.  It showed about one hour of up time left. Quite quickly it went down to 80%.  The phone remained cool.

I connected it the fully charged PowerPack. The phone started charging.  The capacity of PP is around 2200. I noticed an interesting thing - for every 1% of PP the phone battery added around 4%!  So, it seems that the phone's battery was degraded from 2600 to somewhat 4 times less!  BTW - AccuBattery shows its capacity at 200mAh!!! Is this a result of miscalibration?

No I haven't..but I doubt still it won't end the phone shutting down at random percentage problem... Mostly the phone will shut down after the powerpack has run out of battery

I've used the Incipio PowerPack since the very first day of use...

Hi everyone.  I've been following this thread for a few weeks as my wife's phone is doing the exact same thing everyone else is describing.   I just wondered if anyone had luck going through Verizon for help.  I bought last year via Best Buy on Black Friday so I don't even know that Verizon would help.  Sounds like going through Motorola is a complete waste of time as they just don't care.   I know I will never buy another Motorola phone going forward.
