Re: Moto Z - extreme battery drain after 7.1.1 update

Yes you can absolutely damage hardware with faulty software. It's improbable but not entirely out of the question. Especially if there was some sort of fault in some of the hardware. I honestly believe that this is the case in some of the worse examples an unfortunate intersection of the poor power management of 7.1.1 and a faulty batch of battery hardware.

So, we can wait for a software patch/fix..?

I'm searching for an I7+ I will drop to garbage if Lenovo don't fix this issue.

At this time the only action which had produced results is to contact the service center. There have been multiple updates since this began occurring in July, and none have corrected the problem. I would suggest to not wait hopefully, but rather act now by contacting Moto service center in your area.

Today status of my repair changed to:
Device diagnosed, there was a need to order additional parts for which we are currently waiting for.

Just to remind my battery was draining fast, only once switched off at ~30-40% when shooting video at night. Max 1,5h SOT@8h since charger disconnected.

Ok.. I understand... But the problem is, that I purchase the phone in US and live in Argentina... Here Lenovo/Motorola doesn't give technical support... one more reason to leave Android and migrate to the Apple company...
It sucks... Always with problems Android and the devices...

Well on known chinese portal you can buy battery and tools for opening. It's not so hard to do it if you have some skills - tutorials are on yt.

In this case it's pretty sure that any chinese battery will work better than Lenovo one.

I contacted Verizon and they issued me a new phone and I'm glad to say that all is back to normal on this one. Phone lasts 30+ hours again with 4+ hours of SOT. Luckily I did this before my warranty ran out.

Fingers crossed regarding replacement parts. Mate's phone Was waiting some 5 or 6 weeks for Moto Z spare parts (Ingram Micro Germany). After pushing hard, support agreed to send a replacement device. Guess what happened, they sent the wrong color version. This is why I am quite reluctant to have my device serviced.

I will give them one week in new year and then start pushing. Last time they were waiting 12 days for parts to fix BT not working. Probably amazon will deliver new phone earlier :)
I have bunch of phones (samsung, lg, sony, huawei, xiaomi, iphones) and none of them had issues despite that they sometimes are totally discharged or connected to charger 50 times/day depends on use case.

I bought an I8+ today.
The technical support, doesn't help me.. the phone was purchased in US and I live in Argentina... So, Lenovo told me without words, f*ck u. Welcome Apple. Never I'm my life Android.
