Re: Moto Z - extreme battery drain after 7.1.1 update

2018-01-04, 8:00 AM

I did not read the entire discussion thread, but my Moto Z phone was very unstable, switched off after the bluetooth connection in the car, after turning on the camera, it gradually got worse and after the factory reset, the battery had a 3-hour battery life...!! The phone became unusable.
Submitted on a complaint to an official distributor, they have a settlement of 30 days, so I´m curious how my complaint will be processed.

Re: Moto Z - extreme battery drain after 7.1.1 update

Good morning! I am a Moto Z Droid User. Phone is less than a year old. I am also experience extreme battery drain since the 7.1.1 update.  Now, my phone will power off when it gets below 50%. Last night, I went to bed at 1:10 a.m. with 100%.  I turned on battery saver (because I have to do this now) and dimmed my screen all the way down. I woke up in a panic at 7:19 a.m. because my alarm didn't go off....because my phone had powered off.

Hi..!

There is one solution... The one That I did. Drop to garbage and bought an i8+.

Don't wait anything from lenovo, they even answer a d@mn message here.

Ha...Check out the solutions from one of my previous posts..
I see 4 solutions to this issue..

1) The R & D dept @ Lenovo find the solution and issue an update.
2) Root it and install a custom ROM or flash it back or whatever you geeks do
3) Bite the bullet and get a new phone.
4) Throw it at someone you are P O'd at or smash it with a hammer. Then do #3 above.

Think it's time for that class action lawsuit we've talked about on here!!!!

So, I have about had enough of the games being played by Lenovo. So far "they" have fixed one bug related to this issue and it was regarding a missing battery status API which was clearly visible in Android Studio debug:

E BatteryStatsService: no controller energy info supplied
E BatteryStatsService: power: Missing API
E BatteryStatsService: modem info is invalid: ModemActivityInfo{ mTimestamp=0 mSleepTimeMs=0 mIdleTimeMs=0 mTxTimeMs[]=[0, 0, 0, 0, 0] mRxTimeMs=0 mEnergyUsed=0}

Bottom line, how many people are interested in starting a class action lawsuit against Lenovo to show that we are not going to allow this behavior to continue?

Let me know, if enough are interested I will talk with an attorney!

You see the last line from my post above..I'm in for the class action!! Although my phone is ok right now (new phone obtained while under warranty, but running 7.0 and rejecting 7.1.1 update) I will certainly join in.. We are stronger together!!!

Should I be spending money for being part of  class action law suit ?

This is happening with many Android phones, may be we need to file this on Google

One of the people on this chain said they thought it was the battery and I believe that. I had my phone replaced under warranty. All the problems started after about one year for everyone it seems like. My phone is running the 7.1.1 and working as well as it did when I got it new. I've had it now for over a month with no change in battery life. Maybe you just need to replace your battery to solve the problem.

Just got my Moto Z from service, after 7 days (hollyday/new years off days and weekend) and service note says that they replaced battery AND motherboard AND screen :smileyvery-happy: Phone is up to date, with 7.1.1 and November/latest security patch... Looks fine so far. If you are in warranty period, go to your service...
