Just got an unlocked Moto Z from amazon, with wifi not working at all right out of the box
Can't see any access points from the phone. And yes there is working Wifi around that I can connect to using other phones.
Initially the phone had android 6, there was an ota update to version 7 available, updated, but no luck.
Cleared cache as this thread suggested, did factory reset as well. Still no Wifi.
Thinking of returning the device, but before I do that, two q:
1. Are there any other troubleshooting steps I should do before returning?
2. How can I guarantee that the next moto Z I get won't have the same problem? Buy directly from best buy?

And now I get the update for November, only it requires Wifi to work! does anyone know how to override that rule?
Did anyone reset to factory setting and got a better result?

You posted this in March, any updates? how did u resolve it?
Hi. After the nougat update the bluetooth want working.
After the recent security update the wifi doesnt work at all.
It just searches and cant connect at all. This looks like a bad OTA.
Cmon Lenovo sort this out

Moto WIFI & Hotspot is not working. I tried:
- Hard Restart
- Clearing Cache
- Reset Network
Note the error message under the Wifi hotspot setting page in the attached image.
Expect this is a hardware error and returning the device to retailer.
Device is only a few moths old and has been well looked after, no other faults. Not good enough that it is having these problems.

i had the same problem my bluetooth and wifi wasnt working at all it would activate but disconect a minute later so i couldnt find the solution i did everything but nothing seem to work so if you own a moto z force or moto if you have verizon i know the solution disable security and privacy go to apps and put force to stop or disable and that will enable your bluetooth and wifi if not the your antenna is messed up
