Unlocked Z3 Play on Sprint - random "Invalid SIM Card" disconnects?

Note: In the Moto G6 forum I noticed someone had the same issue on Sprint.

 

Currently I am on Sprint with my unlocked 64gb Z3 Play.  I am experiencing random "Invalid SIM card" messages where the network drops (LTE or LTE+ dissapears, the bar strength indicator becomes white/empty). 

This happens consistently in locations where there is a bad/fading signal.

Unfortunately, it also happens in some strong signal areas.  This is in metro Houston.  It happens while driving but also while walking.

I have a Sprint branded Z2 Force in my other pocket that has never experienced these issues.

 

Is this an issue with Sprint or with Motorola?  Please advise who to follow up with.

I am also having the message Invalid sim card messages on my unlocked Sprint z3 play. Very frustrated.

I am having the same issue in a metro area on sprint.  I went to the sprint service tech and they said they think the phone is trying to connect to a bandwith that sprint does not offer.  I got a new sim card and updated the towers/network info- same issue.  Its fine on 3G and LTE but drops out immediately on LTE+ (which sprint claims they dont offer) and I get invalid sim card error.  It seems to be getting worse and worse or maybe i'm just in LTE+ areas more.  I'm having trouble with data connection I would say 40% of the time- the phone is completely unreliable at this point.

Any word on when this will actually happen? Right now I am thinking of selling this and getting a Pixel.

Is there a time frame for this update? I'm paying for data each month that I'm not able to use, it's very frustrating.

The problem is that the phone is only 50% compatible with sprint. There is a web site that shows carrier compatibility and it says it's only 50% compatible. I searched pixel 3 and it's 100% so I switched and no more sim error and full coverage just about everywhere.

It's supposed to be 100% compatible with Sprint, but it always disconnects.

I gave up and sold mine.  The Z2 Force is a much better option if you're going to be on Sprint.  Or, you can get the Sprint locked Z3 Play, then have Sprint unlock it after 50 days of service.  It has only 32gb of storage though (& no battery mod included).
